Cylinder 5 misf!!!! >:(

I was on my way to the gas station, when all of a sudden a big storm hits. Flooding starts to happen, water all over. So insted of getting gas i decide to go home just to be safe. Im driving home and i hit abig puddle of water(really hard to see, raining really bad) and all of a sudden i lose power. my check engine light on and starts flashing. I make it home safe and sound and i grab my scanner to see what happend. I got a cyslinde misfire on #5. I did a complete tune up on my expy like three months ago, spark plugs. The last owner of my expy was having misfires on #5 but he said he cleared it up and never came back. I replaced #5 coil a month ago. I was thinking maybe i got some water in there or maybe I blew a coil?...... I would go look right now but it is pouring

If your having continous problems just on that one cylinder it could be valve problems too. it sounds like you may have fried a coil, I have a couple of spares laying around and lucky for you its number 5 ez to get too. If you want I could ship you a used coil just pm me your addy.

I really hope not.... It stopped raining, so i checked my expy. coils look good, little bit of water near them though. I test drove it to taco bell for dinner lol ( Like 5 miles from my house) and it ran good. Good power and no engine light. I really never had problems with it since ive owned it, about a year. Could of water gotten in there?... is there a way to check my valves with out taking my engine apart?..... How can i check for a good coil?...

Coil Im not sure of how to check to see if its good without replacing. Valves a compression test is the first way to start, make sure your compression is where it is supposed to be.

But if it cleared up after it dried its probably fine, you should pull it and put some clear electrical grease on it and that should stop the fouling out.

As mentioned, did you dielectric grease up your boots before putting them on?

+1 on the dielelrctric grease.

I'd also check the connector to the coil... look for any striped wire past the connector and put some dielectric grease on the connector too..

The five plug is easy to hit with water from the fan (deep puddle). I'd make sure it is sealed nicely.
