I haven't ever seen a Ford do that! However, if it is a 2011, the dealership should be willing to repaint under warranty. Yeah, it's a PITA, but I would definitely get it done.

Also makes me want to check mine more closely (mine should have bene built about the same time)! For curiosity sake, could you post some pics of the bubbling?

And don't wait to go back to the dealership about it. The longer you wait, the more likely they are to argue that you did something to cause it.

Happens to all of them. Just got my 2010 Limited fixed because of the paint issue.

I would go to dealer but I am out of warranty which is only 50000 miles :-(

Most other give 10 years unlimited miles warranty on rust. Ford only has 5 years 50000 miles

If you have a 2nd or 3rd gen, it will most likely happen to you as this is a very common issue. Make sure you get it covered under the 3 yr/36K warranty or you will be SOL.

I noticed you double posted this (here and a new thread). Frankly this is a known issue that Dodge, Chevy, and Ford have been fighting for years and years. Its probably cheaper to fix the repairs than chemfilm the aluminum to seal properly....good pre buy research should have told you this happens...Sure the Sequoias don't have it....but I didn't want to fork out the extra 10K for a little extra quality.

LOL, (thread drift) I did NO research when I bought my 2004 XP a couple weeks ago. I was 1500 miles from home and total time from seeing the car (and not even in the market) to buying it was 45 minutes. I never shoot from the hip but once in a while you just do. This thing looked almost new, and it was replacing a swiss cheesed 04 Durango which I just sold tonight.

The chem film: The only issue I found so far were some TINY dots bubbling up on the inside lip of the tail gate. Can I just grind down those areas, por 15 and white over the top of that and be done with them, or do I need to alodine it first? Only reason I ask on this thread is you brought up the chemfilm.

Not sure what you are talking about but this truck had msrp of $60K dollars and Toyota is not more expensive. To be talking about paint bubling on one year old car is non approvable no matter how cheap it is.

I agree BIG TIME.
Ford no longer paints cars, and has not for some time now. It's a vendor. And they suck.
I have to think if dario could look and see into the future when he was signing on the dotted line, he would go down the block and bird dog the Yoda. And that says HUGE things about Ford.
Ford cares like the honey badger. Another small example is the defective gears on the adjustable brake pedal. They had to have known about the defect for years! Did they change it? Nope.
But alas, we have short memories. Go ahead and ask why I bought my last Dodge.:flamingdevil:

A spot repair will be fine as a temporary fix....good chance at some point in the future other parts of the hood/tail will peel...just a matter of time. After 30K miles the entire under front edge of my hood was peeling...it was crazy.
