Well I went out this morning to put a sd card in my trail camera to see what animals were still active after our 6 inches of snow from last night. Never really driven in the snow so cut me a little slack. My trail camera is on a hill and I drove horizontally about half way up the hill. Then came the sliding.........all the way until some large aspens caught me at the bottom. Spent about 40 minutes shoving wood under the wheels but couldn't get enough traction to get on them. So I tried some wooden pallets....no luck. I couldn't rock my truck back and forth because of the aspens I was hung up on. At this point I had about 15 minutes to get to work. I threw all the wood out of the way, put it in reverse and hit the gas. Broke a few trees but at least now I could rock it instead of just spinning the wheels. Dropped her in 4 low, 1st gear and hit the gas. I couldn't crawl out because I would instantly break traction. So I decided to muscle her out and crank the wheels from left to right repeatedly. Finally ended up finding some traction and drove her out sideways....yes sideways. Bottom line is... Our expeditions will get out of anything with a little tire spinning, engine roaring and a slightly stupid driver.
The video is from the last little stretch of slippery trail, once I had gotten past the tough stuff.

The snow wasn't the problem. It was the hidden ice:p My tread is getting pretty low though! Proud of how my expedition performed though

What tires do you have on there?

Do you have any real chains for them yet?

I was looking into getting those treadwright guarddog m/ts considering I can get 4 new for 716 shipped. But they dont make a 37 on a 17 inch rim so that would mean going back to 35s. Hmmm is it work it

Yeah I have had some bad luck in the snow as well. Without the extra weight of the SUV over the back axle I would have been in many more sticky situations haha. I love the winter capability in these things compared to other vehicles.

lower your psi. next time if your spinning lower psi is your friend. the side wall will help eat into the snow and little bit of ice. also if you are living in snow for now on buy some real tires. haha

Well my new plan for now anyways is this. I have a brand new 37 inch falken wild peak that I use for a spare, long story. Im going to buy one more new wild peak in a 37 inch tire and put the two new ones up front. Put my best 2 coopers on the rear and buy some chains for the snow. Then I will have two full size spares and when all the coopers wear out I will buy another two wild peaks.

WoW that's a pretty rad truck. My buddy has a Eddie Bower Expedition and the 10 cylinders have helped him out of every single snow jam imaginable to the point where he straps a thick tire to his grill and pushes people out of their spots when it gets real snowy here.

You mean Excursion? Because Expeditions don't come in V10's
