So I got some bosche platinum plugs. But the box says they are pre gapped but at .060 and not the .054.

Does that matter? Why is the bosche gap so different?

There are a wide variety of vehicles they may work in.

Gap them to factory specs or you risk misfire @ high loads.. (.052 - .056) I generally will stay on the low side unless I plan to remove them more often. The gap will increase with age.

Thanks Tom,

That makes a lot of sense. I'm going to buy Motorcraft today and gap them .054 and return the bosche plugs

i've thought about what you said a bit more tom. i think the plugs i have in there are old, and the gap is getting bigger. hence why when i give it more load going uphill at 65mph i can feel misfire. and then giving it more gas up to 75 gave me a CEL for a few seconds. (this is the only time it has happened).

the car fires right up, and drives great around town.

So I think that since the plugs are old, the gaps must be larger now, and causing that misfire under load. and perhaps not a coil. Although I ordered a set of new aftermarket COP.

Most are quick to blame the cops and they do go bad. They are also prone to misfire due to moisture in the plug well due to the very close proximity to ground. But a fouled plug or excessive gap could just as likely cause misfire.
