What Is It? 2011 Console

Hi. I'm new to this forum, having just purchased a 2011 EL Limited. It replaced my 2004 EB that I totaled 2 wks. ago. I searched the forum for this question, but didn't find an answer. I apologize if it's been asked before, but can anyone tell me the purpose of this slot inside the center console?

Thanks. I agree I thought the same thing, but find it highly unlikely in a 2011. Besides, there's no room for a radio. I've seen some folks say there's a tray for small items that attaches there, but my parts guy can't find it.

It will also hold most cell phone cases that have a swivel clip on them. You pull the clip off and slip the button in that slot.

You can buy the round piece that goes in there. I bought some and put one on a case to hold my iPod. Sorry but I don't remember where I found them.

OK - went to the parts dept yesterday. The guy there said cell phone too - until he looked it up. Turns out there is a tray that goes there to hold small stuff. $20 so I ordered it. I'll post a pic & part # once I get it.

Nice! My dealer told me cell phone and did not look anything up. I look forward to seeing the tray.

Going back to dealer Monday - supposedly ordered the part, so I'll see. Will post follow-up.

Unfortunately when the part came in, it was the frame for the top of the console . The parts guys say they'll keep looking, but back to square one...

DG, what did you end up doing in your Console?

I just got the same as you 2011 EL Limited White/black int.

and the center console leaves a lot to be desired. No true organization help except for a netting sack. I was hoping to find to hacks or ways people made use of the pit of a console.

Maybe an insert that fits the cd holder on the bottom of the lid.

That's for tissues, not CDs.
