Good point. Will look at it today (if it warms up any) and see how dirty it is. I think I am going to have set aside a weekend when it warms up and do the Seafoam, oil, TB, etc.

Maybe try changing the plugs yourself?

If they're not stuck you might try changing your spark plugs yourself. I got some motorcraft plugs for $8 at O'rielly. A few of my plugs were factory originals and were stuck pretty hardcore. I had a shop replace them and all the wiring. My engine runs beautifully now but if I had the tools to pull the plugs I wouldn't have even considered a shop. The total cost was $450 VS the $64 for plugs and $3 for anti-seize if I could have done it at home. Make sure you use lube on the threads! If you don't you'll get your plugs stuck hardcore. Unfortunately Triton motors and the 4.6 modular engine strip and cling to spark plugs like mad.

I went ahead and bit the bullet - had the plugs changed... not that the truck was running badly, but it had 85K on it and figured it was time. Also had the boots changed, as some had some "discoloration" on them... was not sure if it needed to be done, but they were there and I do trust the place working on the truck.
There was not a marked improvement in performance, etc. It did make me wonder something:
We also have a 2008 Suburban 1500 Z71... that thing runs very smooth, in fact, when transitioning between vehicles, I have to be careful (the Burb does 90 easily, 80 in my Expy is noticible. :driver: ). The Expy definitely drives / sounds more like a truck, IMHO.
Is that a product of Ford vs Chevy (not starting a war)?
Is it that one is 9 years newer (even with same mileage)?
Do I need to consider the COPs for the Expy?
Any other ideas?
I am considering getting a tuner, so that may help - not sure.
Other data: daily driving (city / hwy) is 13 mpg and highway only is 16 mpg (tops)...
Thanks!

My truck is an absolute twin to yours, and I'm getting exactly 13mpg myself, that being said its been really snowy, so I'm either being silly and playing in deep snow in 4high, or I'm sliding it around like a giant go cart in 2wd so my mileage will improve come summer time.
I had an 05 Avalanche with 2" spacers out back, and ford keys up front (they are indexed differently and add 2" lift just bolting them in the GM) and was running 33's. My expedition feels and drives virtually identical to my much newer and less mileage GM....both felt "trucky" but I expect that..and my Ford has 275k on it....I love the damn thing lol.

Yeah - I love my Expy. Looking at what to do next - tuner, exhaust, something... the woofer is blown, maybe fix that... who knows.
I did get to drive it in Snowpocolypse Atlanta last week and it was a champ!!!
Maybe a good front bumper and winch...

Any ideas?

I know for me, its getting the 3" dynomax tailpipe and a single chamber flowmaster, then in the spring I'm going to paint the wheels black, all the gold trim will get done in camo green plastidip, will buy either 33's or 35's and spacers for the back and a twist up front. Pretty excited.

Pics? What are you using for "inspiration"??

Just here lol, lookimg at any pics I find, I also have a "look" in mind.... and just want a rough and tumble truck....I'm not looking for pretty or shiny, budget also dictates what I do, i have 3 "toys" that I'm balls deep in already, so there is zero budget for the truck. So how big, how cool, how functional can I make it with a $2500 cap including the $1000 I spent buying it, and getting it on the road. I have a 70 Merc Meteor coupe that gets all my attention, I have a 71Comet GT that's my "go fast" toy, and am about to start a small restoration on my 77 econoline hippy van lol....long live shag carpet .....
