Reversed Upper Control Arms???

I just had the front end of my 2003 Expedition worked on. 200K+ miles and any bump or turn was making a creaking noise. The shop replaced the upper control arms, upper ball joints and lower ball joints. No more noise, but.........

It now drives worse than my CJ5. It feels like the front tires were replaced with bicycle tires. It's very loose feeling and feels wobbly. Now a bump makes the truck feel like it's wiggling back and forth. A long trip is bound to give someone motion sickness. What are the odds that they have they two sides reversed?

When looking at the upper arm, shouldn't the ball joint be on the back half of the control arm. As in closer to the firewall? If so, these ain't right.

Check to see if you can find the part numbers on the control arms then check to see if they are on the correct side.

What brand of control arms did the shop install?

Mevotech I am assuming. I was billed for a CMK80712 & a CMK80713. Google shows that # matching that brand.

I didn't see a # stamped but I didn't really look that hard. I'll check again.

Just took a look at my 04 expy the short side of the control arms are towards the firewall and the long side should be towards the front. If your first pic is the drivers side and it looks like it is as I can see the steering rod then I would say they put them on the wrong side. Little too dark outside and I would have to jack up the front end to get a picture for you

It always best to do one side at a time so that you can compare the old one with the new one.

Well nevermind. They are marked L & R on the bottom. They have the one marked R on the driver's side and the one marked L on the passenger's side. I guess I'm going back to the shop tomorrow.

when you get the control arms on the correct sides You should then have the front end aligned. To be honest I don't think I would trust that shop to do the alignment Also make sure that the tighten all nuts and bolts to the proper torque

Like bedrck said.. I would absolutely have it aligned... I'm doing my uppers right now and finishing them tomorrow and yours are 100% flipped [emoji51]

Hold on now, ya got ta rememba he is the south. So with the mechanic standin enfront of the truck, left would be da pass side and write would be da driver side......

Those that have the ability to read know otherwise. Also the grease looks like mystic red, not for suspensions iirc and should be inside the joint, not on top.

And of course which state is he listed in??? (LODA)

Based on his pics the mechanic put them on backwards for sure... Prolly had them switched around and I'd guess it drives smooth now

Or he went back to have the shop fix it and the shop owner killed him and buried him somewhere....
