I Have a 2003 Eddie Bauer with a K&N System and Ive taken off the roof rack and rear seats to lighten it up a bit and decrease drag. Now that I've saved up a few more pennies and dimes I was wondering if the Hypertech ME Econ is worth the money (Stylintrucks.com has them for $280 right now and that's pretty much the best deal I've found so far) for a few more mpg and a faster 0-60 or if i should just keep saving for a diablosport or edge ecu programmer?

Any feed back is much appreciated!

I wound up going with a Superchip Flashpaq (I needed to make a decision fast because of a good offer at a different website was ending) and plan to install it sometime with in the next 2 to 3 weeks (depending on when I receive it). Will update to see if this works well seeing how the 03 expy's have such a limited choice

Sorry to double post!!

I'm interested to see what this will do for you, mines quickly becoming a dog at higher rpm's with the 35's.

Oh and let me know if it adjusts for tire size too if you would please, the superchips site just says some do some dont depending on model. My speedo is just a TAD off now.

I just installed the Hypertech Max Energy on my '05 last week or so. Seems to do everything promised, I'm running the premium gas tune with shift firmness on. I didn't change shift points, redlines, or tire size. I did change max speed to 124 just for the heck of it. Best I can test looks like I picked up half a second on 0-60. (8.03)

I have added CAI and CAT back this week but haven't tested it good yet, been raining everyday.

Well the company I was buying from told me finally after 3 weeks that the superchip flashpaq was cancelled and it'd $20 dollars more for soething else from superchip but theyre still advertizing that same product on the site, go figure, huh?

im new to the expys but not to the performance world, SCT makes the best tuners for ford gas or diesel. buy it from a reputable shop and they will load it with custom tunes and when you mod your expy let them know what you did and they will send you new tunes that you just upload into the tuner using your computer.

I was just curious, with the Superchip Flashpaq, do you have to run premium or can you run 87 octane? I want to set up my Expi for towing and economy when not towing and was looking at the various programmers.

BTW, I ordered the K&N CAI and a Magnaflow Cat Back system.

Thanks

Theres a towing mode, milage mode, 87 octane mode, and a 91-104 octane mode (premium) but the 87 mode really sucks through gas at highway speeds. and with everything else you ordered you might want to add on a new MAF for your truck to better read all the air it'll start taking in.

i personaly dont like chips at all I'd go with a programmer.... chips seem to becoming a thing of the past and you can get a lot more out of programers these days...
