The 13 year original you can't argue with that. Are most of the aftermarket replacements trash, or have you guys had any luck with any other than oem .

I put an aftermarket in my last rig when the OEM died, but I sold it 2 years later so I can't really comment on its durability. I only grabbed it because it was $130 from Advance. :D If I was shopping for the Expedition, I probably would go OEM or maybe this Spectra.

3.73 with 35 shouldn't be an issue. I would look at the tune and try to adjust shift points.

3.73 with 35 is pretty close to the stock tires on 3.31 in regards to driveshaft rpm/stress.

35-3.73 - 2553 rpm
32-3.31 - 2436 rpm

I ran 40s on a 3.73 8.8 from an Explorer in my jeep. Chevy 350/700r4/231 and I was NOT nice to it.

 this is the the only thing I'm afraid of putting 35's on mine . It's apparently a sure thing that I'm gonna toast my transmission also ..

No I think the shop that rebuilt mine just did something funky and it was probably their mistake. I'll know in a few days but I would highly recommend what the other user said in that I surely NEED a tuner (SCT) to make better adjustments for the 35s and tranny shifting

Well ford dealer could set the speedometer to read accurately for the larger tires by I doubt they'll change the shift points...
I'm planning on getting the SCT X4 or (whatever it is) and it plugs directly into the OBD II on your truck and gives you live readings and allows adjust for all sorts of things in the ECU from transmission shifting to timing retardation to speedo calibration and more

Does it control downshifts? My 2000 upshifts fine, but it should soft shift back to third at around 38-42 mph, mine does it at 30 mph. Way too low. I have 20 inch tires, don't know if that's why.

That's my question as well, I'm certain I would just try a bunch of different things (like I've done/seen done in turbo subarus) until I find the right shifting points but a lot of users on here say good things about 5startuning.com and their emailed tunes which is them sending you a tune applicable to your SCT device and you upload so it will be activated to your truck. That's something I'd think about giving a try as well

So the 35's prolong the shift points? BC it takes longer to reach each factory shift point BC of the larger diameter of the tires.
So u would adjust them to shift sooner?

I took the stock roof rack cross bar off, drilled holes and added 4 square fog lights that i got giving to me free a while ago on it. i am 50/50 on the way it looks on there i can't bring myself to buy an expensive led light bar just to use it like 2 times in a year haha

Just dropped mine off at the tranny shop and she's got no first gear at all, fluid smells a little burnt, most likely getting another rebuild.
Here's a pic of the poor baby back when she was still a 4 speed...

Bummer to hear about your trans bud, but at least your truck looks good, even while having one gear!
