need a lil more info...what kind of power are you looking for? Either way, if you want a power adder then you shouldn't be concerned about fuel consumption cuz that'll be gone with either. Also, while I am aware of several types and brands of superchargers for the f150, I don't know of any turbo kit for an expy or non diesel ford so a LOT of fabrication will be necessary and now you need to look at what you want to spend unless you can do all the work yourself

turbonetics makes a kit for ford gas powered trucks however i would go with a self contained supercharger for the easier install and maintence... turbos work great on fast reving gas motors because they are easier to keep cool and on diesels where you can hit 1300 exhaust temps with causing harm, 600 degrees on gas motor is about max. besides the plumbing of the turbo would be a pain with the oil lines and coolant lines and intercooler.. unless your bulding a race truck i would go with supercharger... as for gas mileage forced induction will hel if driven rite but it can also kill the mileage if you keep your foot in it

being that my truck will still be a daily driver im gud around 450 to 500hp (but torque is where its at u know) to all four wheels, and as far as price go,not really worried about that

i really leanin towards the SC but the only bad thing is tunnin u know, not all i wonna be smokin all 4 lol turbo set up can be tuned to different specs but the head aches that comes after isnt worth the amount of money i will pay 4 installation

the most recent ford lightning made 360 supercharged horsepower. If you want 500, it isn't gonna happen with just a power adder unless you run about 16lbs of boost and then you'll only be able to step on the gas pedal one time. To avoid grenading your engine, if you want 500 hp, it'll probably cost you about $15-18k to build your engine and put the blower on it. Or just spend $29k and order a shelby gt500 crate motor :)

lol i jus luked up some different force induction systems and saw how much they cost, price really isnt a concern but damn every1 has a limit,i recently discovered that ford have made a thunder expo in 2000,it had the same power and drivetrain out of a lightlin and its number was impressive wit only 360hp and 440lbs tq,i mean dude this thing was knockin on the doors of sum decent to high end sport cars, and ford never put the damn thing into production that lightlin serious set up doesnt sound bad

i agree that you wont see 500 horse with just a induction system. tritons are truck motors and make good torque. i understand it is easier to asjust a wastegate or blowoff valve to keep the turbo under control but they also fail very easy the main reason my powerstroke doesnt have either one. in that regard you can put the pulley on for your desired boost and walk away with less worry and cash.. i also think you will be surprised if you get 350horse and about 400 torque it will be a very quick expy

Lightnings made 380 at the crank with 8# of boost, and about 330-340 at the wheels. With a 4 lb lower pulley and a good tune, it would be about 400 at the wheels, or roughly 500 HP at the crank, and nearly 500 lb ft of torque at the wheels. That setup works well, and is fairly safe with a good tune.
I say find a wrecked L and gut the drivetrain, the only issue will be the computer is setup for 2wd and not 4wd. You can just pull the topend blower setup off (and intercooler), and get a tune for your existing computer, but you need a lot of supporting parts to make it work right. I posted a link to the parts list a few weeks back in another thread. http://www.nhtoc.com/vbforum/how-se...89-how-add-svt-supercharger-5-4-n-engine.html
There is someone on the Lightning forums with a lifted 4x4 crew F150, and he did the swap. I think his SN on lightningrodder.com is Z7What. Try to find out what all is needed for the 4wd guys from him.
Your bottom end should hold up with no more than 14 lbs of boost, but I would stay safe at 12. The weak spot may be your tranny if you do not have the 4R100. If you have the 4R75, it will detonate within 5-10K miles with that much torque.
