Well... we vote with our dollars. I wonder if GMCs are having a similar problem? Just sayin'...
I found similar reports on GM forums for some hoods that are aluminum, and on other sites like BMW.

It is really sad that dealers REFUSE to read and comply with the clearly written warranty !To clarify after trying to talk to Ford myself I went to the dealer when my initial car registration arrived already past due and essentially camped their sale floor until they started acting on my list of issues. Then the service center escalated it, was asked by Ford to put moulding tape on it to test. Then Ford covered repainting.
It wasn’t the dealer. It was the person that called me back from Ford after I mentioned lemon laws to the owner support number. The dealer when I went to them escalated livid over the license and registration being expired already when I got it. This was one of my laundry list of issues. At that point the dealer escalated it with Ford and got it covered. It is really sad that dealers REFUSE to read and comply with the clearly written warranty !
Yes, this was a big change in 2016MY, but they should know this !
It never should have gotten that far !It wasn’t the dealer. It was the person that called me back from Ford after I mentioned lemon laws to the owner support number.
GM doesn't have anywhere near the problems ford has with galvanic corrosion, rarely do you ever see them. I can find an F-150 or explorer/ Expedition on every corner with the problem. Have yet to see one Tahoe or Yukon with it. Still love my fords but this is a "come on guys" issue.
I bought a F150 in 1992. The hood developed permanent water spots and clear coat looked dull. I had the dealer look at it. They fixed it, without blinking a eye. They gave me a loaner car to drive. The body shop called and said they needed more time. They found a second layer of paint. Apparently, the hood was half assed repaired, by factory or shipping company. The hood and roof had to be stripped down to bare metal and repainted properly.
Its hard to find a 95-current GMC Savannah / Chevy Express full-size van that the paint isn't peeling off the aluminum hood and/or leading edge of the steel roof.
So dealer stiffs and you buy again, from them. The same issue? Wow!I had the issue on my tailgate on my 2009 and again on my 2012. Dealer said unless it rusts through Ford will not correct it. Of course it will never rust through. Now driving a 17 and hoping three times is a charm!
The TSB is from 2000-2018 model year vehicles, there is no solution. Only temporary cosmetic relief. If they figured it out it wouldn't have to be applied to current production vehicles. You can respray every few years if you really want the appearance to stay perfect. Some never even get the issue but lots do.
