To clarify after trying to talk to Ford myself I went to the dealer when my initial car registration arrived already past due and essentially camped their sale floor until they started acting on my list of issues. Then the service center escalated it, was asked by Ford to put moulding tape on it to test. Then Ford covered repainting.
It is really sad that dealers REFUSE to read and comply with the clearly written warranty !

Yes, this was a big change in 2016MY, but they should know this !

GM doesn't have anywhere near the problems ford has with galvanic corrosion, rarely do you ever see them. I can find an F-150 or explorer/ Expedition on every corner with the problem. Have yet to see one Tahoe or Yukon with it. Still love my fords but this is a "come on guys" issue.

It wasn’t the dealer. It was the person that called me back from Ford after I mentioned lemon laws to the owner support number. The dealer when I went to them escalated livid over the license and registration being expired already when I got it. This was one of my laundry list of issues. At that point the dealer escalated it with Ford and got it covered.

The issues were:
Registration wasn’t filed right by dealer

The keys were not right. Didn’t have remote start functions despite vehicle listed as factory remote start

Paint issue.

It never should have gotten that far !

The dealer service should have handled it with NO ISSUES !

I had major issues with paper work on my previous car. Luckily my wife spotted it the day I brought it home. I went back and demand to see the sales manager. He redid all of the paper work himself.

My wife noticed several issues. I went and spoke to the sales manager. He was lots of promises and stalls. Didn’t return calls, etc. That is when I called Ford and got that answer. I was going to let it go until the registration issue. Then I went there in person, and wouldn’t leave until we were told it would be taken care of. Again the same sales manager didn’t follow through on one item. When I went to pick up after repainting, and found a new ding, I raised hell about the remaining item. Including calling DMV Department of Investigations. Didn’t open a case but verified that having a feature listed but not available constituted breach of contract. Feature in that case was remote start. Used vehicle and keys had been replaced with the simpler key without remote start.

I bought a F150 in 1992. The hood developed permanent water spots and clear coat looked dull. I had the dealer look at it. They fixed it, without blinking a eye. They gave me a loaner car to drive. The body shop called and said they needed more time. They found a second layer of paint. Apparently, the hood was half assed repaired, by factory or shipping company. The hood and roof had to be stripped down to bare metal and repainted properly.

Its hard to find a 95-current GMC Savannah / Chevy Express full-size van that the paint isn't peeling off the aluminum hood and/or leading edge of the steel roof.

Yeah, the first 5 days I was in an F150 from Enterprise that was dirty when I picked it up. Was told I could pick up my vehicle on the fifth day it was ready. Dropped off the rental, got a ride from Enterprise to dealer and it wasn’t. Spent the second week in a nicer F150 dealer owned.

Half of Fords lineup has this issue vs one GM model that takes years to peel. Way more prevalent on the ford side but obviously elsewhere too.

I had the issue on my tailgate on my 2009 and again on my 2012. Dealer said unless it rusts through Ford will not correct it. Of course it will never rust through. Now driving a 17 and hoping three times is a charm!

So dealer stiffs and you buy again, from them. The same issue? Wow!

The TSB is from 2000-2018 model year vehicles, there is no solution. Only temporary cosmetic relief. If they figured it out it wouldn't have to be applied to current production vehicles. You can respray every few years if you really want the appearance to stay perfect. Some never even get the issue but lots do.

My 2013 Expee has paint issue at Chrome corners above License Plt . Peeled to aluminum . Shal I use primer and touch up paint . Which # is paint color on door post VIN # plate ? Fothco

There are some decent you tube videos on it - lots of folks sand and use primer / color match / clear coat from duplicolor.

Here’s one...
