2nd Gen lift glass bracket broke

Hey all! just got back from camping and was getting the kayaks off the roof when I discovered that one of the hinges for the rear lift glass is broken in half! I'm not afraid to fix this stuff myself but I'v never done any glass work and don't know where to start. Has anyone had any experience in this area? My buddy suggested that I try and JB weld it back together but I doubt that would last too long. Any help is much appreciated.

Mine broke in 2010 on 2003 XLT. Bought 2 new ones from dealer and replaced them, quick easy job. $125 Can get them on internet from Dorman also.

Replace both is my advice, one at a time!

Pop the cap, Torx screw

(mine was 7 years old when it broke, now replacement is 8 years old ... probably due again)

It's worth using, depending on a deductible, that is why you have it. Doubt that your company would raise your premium based on glass repair claim.

Checked my glass coverage, and the deductible is $100. MrSticker fixed his problem for $125,
plus his labor, for a "quick easy job".

So, doing it yourself should be the way to go.

Thanks everyone. I dropped by the you pull it wrecking yard and grabbed 2 hinges for a total of $18. Problem solved.

Mine just broke on my new to me 04 I went to LLQ pick a part and robbed the complete window and shocks off of it for $50. Mine was from the north so I am assuming that aided with them breaking. I was not sure if I could just replace the section that appears to be glued to the glass.

EDIT never mind. I see you're talking about the top hinge not the part the shock mounts to.

Good call on hitting up the local U-Pull your own parts place. I can't tell you how many little things I've gotten from there that has saved me a ton of cash.
