Did you have to buy the double din installation dash kit??

You have to purchase the trim kit so the stereo looks to fill the cutout in the dash. Otherwise you'll have about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch gap on the sides.

Question...what did you do with the two orange wires? One for illum and the other one?

What about the 4 browns and the pink? Thank you.

I'm not sure if it's any help to your install, but for my 2006 install, I connected the orange to the illum orange and then connected the orange black to ground. The brown wires I just taped off. For the pink, it just so happened to be in the correct position for me to connect the pink to the vss wire on my pioneer harness, otherwise I would've just taped it off.

Sorry, I missed the post. I think I left them taped off, but not 100 percent sure.

Stoned06 hello I am having the same issue I believe. I recently installed a new HU into my 03 expedition but can not figure out how to get my rear DVD player factory style to power on or which wires control that. I am not worried on having sound to the DVD player I just need it to power up to play movies for little ones. Can you help me! Thank you

This a 3 year old thread. Very few members hang around that long. You might want to start a new thread, in electronics section and maybe expedition 2nd gen as well. More people 2nd gen as a rule.

I just installed a DNX874S Kenwood in my 2007 Expedition EL.
I purchased it from Crutchfield. They provided a Masetro controller for the steering wheel controls and the wiring was pre made so it was a plug and play. Very easy install. Crutchfield's support is excellent. The rear DVD player still works but from the rear controls only and with the wireless headphones no speakers.
i have Apple Car Play with Waze and several Map apps Google Map, Garmin and apple map.
Very pleased, about $900.00 for everything.
There are many other features with the Kenwood not mentioned here. Go on You Tube and search for this model.
