Anyone monitoring Trans Temp with ODB2 reader app?

This gauge is plugged in all the time?

I know you weren't asking me, but I wanted to add some info. I have the UltraGauge MX and it's plugged in all the time, but when it's first connected it has to be plugged in with the ignition in the on (not run) position and should be removed before reconnecting the battery (if you're disconnecting to work on truck, etc.). If you connect the battery with it plugged in the truck will throw codes and run rough until the codes are cleared and the truck is restarted.

Yes, it gets power and data from OBDII. Use to use one in my TDI Jetta and Passat.

I use this blue tooth adapter from Amazon for $11, and Torque Pro app for $10. I also have an android. I have a 2003 Expedition and it works, test drove a 2009 and it worked, and drove a 2012 F250 and it worked in it too

I've had a OBDLink MX+ for over a year but only used it with FORScan. Had no idea about this app or the other functionality. Downloaded the OBDLink app today and it's pretty kick ass. Fun to play with! Great info in this thread. Thanks all!

I would suggest an ODBLink MX+ they are a bit more expensive than your generic modules.
But it has so much more possibility when you start digging in.
It is a bit of a rabbit hole with a learning curve but initial setup options are simple.
The thing is fast. Also it has a battery protector so it shuts off and won’t drain the battery if left in all the time.
The cheaper modules can be hit or miss on that aspect.

Also now my understanding is that the MX+ comes with all the upgrades free and no longer $10 per vehicle after one free upgrade.

I understand that sentiment that is why I waited so long before getting one.
I was the same way and got lucky finding it for $50 around Black Friday.
Now that I have fooled with it kind of with I had done it earlier.
But a cheaper one will work but I would make sure to unplug it when not in use.

The only time I plan on using it really is when I'm towing a trailer. So I will make sure to unplug it when I'm done.

Yes. The adapter I have is the transparent blue one. I leave it plugged in 24/7
I've run Torque on a Galaxy S3, S4, and a Galaxy Tab 7" tablet.
Does everything except access the MS-CAN. That's the only reason I'm getting the OBDLink MX.

why would I unplug it when not using it? I did a test, draws less than .1 amps, the computer brain uses that much. Don't understand answers like that??

If you buying MX, stay away from MX WiFi, and I suggest then MX+ Bluetooth over the MX Bluetooth. The Plus works with all devices, Android, iPhone, and Computer. It can also be used for FORSCAN as you already know.

So can an iPhone. Any modern mobile device can have many BT connections at once, but depending on generation of BT that your device supports individual bandwidth can be affected. Just like when a wireless access point gets many devices on it.
