Yokohama makes some good tires. I had some highway tread Geolandars that I got good miles out of.

I think that's way expensive though. Most tires with aggressive treas like that don't have good treadwear ratings. Some don't say at all.
35-40K would be high.

35x12.5 was common forever---just in 15 inch rim.

Should be a good number around for well under 200 each if not in the 140s.

Did a quick search. These are CHEAP and have 4.6 out of 5 star on 226 reviews. Free shipping.

I'm currently in the market for tires and came across this through my research.
I drive a 2003 5.4 Expedition with about 500# of gear onboard full-time. I've run STT PROs and currently Mastercraft Courser MXTs. I was thinking about going to LT315/70R17 S/T MAXXs but then came across MTPs.

I'm gonna research these now.

I can't remember who we used but my friend ordered me a set of Michelin LTX MS2 in August for 103 each shipped. That is a killer deal for than tire.
I don't have info. He used rewards for credit card and I'm a cash person so he orders and I pay him.

Some place with yellow and black in their logo.

I'm pulling the trigger on the 35x12.5R17 Ironman's as I need tires stat.

Any drawbacks from installing those 35s on OEM 7.5" wide Expy rims?

Ever since I looked those up for this thread I keep getting tire ads on side of screen...Thanks!! LOL

All the cheapest ones they show me are re-treads. Some other word they use. As low as 122 but I have never trusted them but maybe if just for a mud toy it would be ok but not for transportation.

I did see someone post that they went offroad with some new tire and there were chunks missing. Wow

I have no idea off top of head what rims they are spec'd for. Sometimes the info on the listing will show.

I think I recall 12.5s mostly going on 8 inch rims.

Read a couple of posts just now and one guy said tie shops were about 50/50 in opinions.
I'd run them if they looked ok on the rims.

Look how crazy out of spec some people run tires and I think on super too wide rims and get by with it. As long as the sidewall doesn't look like it sticks out and bulges too unattractively. I'd run em.

Michelins are fine tires. For the value however, I tried General HTS and am extremely satisfied. I was coming off Cooper AT3's which got noisy very quickly, but were great in snow. Going to the General got me zero road noise and better gas mileage and after 8000 mi the tires still look new. In snow they have been very good, no issues in rain either.

I saved a ton of money.

The only time I've ever seen wear close to the michelins and I'm not saying that all Michelin models are the same, was the BFGoodrich I think what's the brand there commercial tires. 225 75 16 10 ply.those tires wore ust as well if not better than the Michelins.

I put the Michelin LTX on my Explorer that I just sold, got less than 30K out of them. Replaced them with a set of Cooper Discoverer SRX, quiet, grippy, really loved them. Just got a 2017 Expedition Limited and when time will be putting on another pair of them.

Those are very atypical results. The LTX Michelin ones. Everyone in the tire arena knows them to be very long lasting long wearing tires. Some people report their not as good on snow as softer tires but they wear awesomely.
I had a guy who is a 25 to 30 year veteran with his family owning a pretty good-sized tire store in the area tell me that those michelins would dry rot off the car before I'd wear out the tread and he was absolutely right.
Any Tire can be worn out if alignment is messed up or other steering or suspension problems especially wearing the tires out unevenly or the edges or cupping Etc. I just find it hard to believe that there would be many tires out there that would wear better on the same vehicle then those michelins. Having said that, I rarely run those michelins because they are just too expensive for my blood. I buy the cheap ones that I only expect to get 35 to 40,000 out of a 60,000 mile Rated Tire.
