Yikes.

Accidentally clicked on a Canadian dealer link while searching for something else, apparently you can get a brand new 2019 Expedition 4x4 in barebones Police SSV trim (which is sold to the general public there).... for $58k CDN. They even have 8 different colors. And proper black interiors.

...that's just $43800 USD. And that's straight MSRP + fees, no haggling or specials or year-end offers.

+$2k-ish for civillian options: 18" alloys, 3rd row seats, trailer tow package, running boards
+$3k USD for either SSV Max or to go up to Shortie 4x4 XLT.

30 grand of additional equipment at USA dealerships, wth is that about??

A more interesting question is what is the cost savings between a new 2019 and a 2018 that has been sitting on a dealer’s lot for 3-6 months. Given no significant changes between model years does it make sense to consider a 2019 or better to haggle for a 2018?

18 may have a few unaddressed teething problems
18 will sell as a 1-year-older truck the minute you drive it off the lot

If you can find a new, not preowned, 2018 in the configuration you actually want and plan to keep the vehicle long-term (8+ years), I would 100% do that over a 2019. The 2019s didn’t add any significant changes and the components used on the tail end 2018s are essentially the same as the 2019s. There shouldn’t be any extra “bugs” in a tail-end 2018 versus a current 2019. The 2019s went up a couple hundred dollars and even stripped a few features depending on trim (removal of CD player and XLTs no longer having the ability to get actual leather).

Got my 19 Platinum for just under $75K, over $80K MRSP. I have an X-plan pin but the dealer's cost was lower by about $400.

Best I've personally seen so far for a '19 Platinum Max with an MSRP of $83.5k is $75.4k. I'm not sure at what point I'll bite, but this is definitely getting to the range of being enticing.

Ordered a 2019 Limited. Not the max. White Platinum, Special edition Package, 301A, 4x4, Second row bucket seats with the 2nd row inflatable safety belts. $70,035.00 with the 1K ford rebate. And that includes the $1395 Destination Charge.

18 Limited 4x4 Max. Gave me 47k on my Chevy trade and I offered 71k and they accepted. Sticker was 78k and change.

Musta been some Chevy...
The Tahoes/Suburban/Yukon's will always have much better resale than the Expeditions......Right now I just did a search for used 2018 Expedition Max's, and all are in the mid 40,000......that's a hell of a 1 year depreciation since these are started in the 70,000+ range

I know it's not really the question but it helps to give us some comparisons, a friend of mine just recently bought a Suburban. She said it was a late last year model closeout and it had every option but GPS and apparently that's why it wasn't selling. Haven't seen it yet but I'm almost certain it is black with black leather not certain about moonroof but she usually gets them fully loaded.
She's a retired GM employee and always talks about what a great discount she gets. I'm not so certain about that nowadays.
In our conversation which was via text I asked her what she paid... 48 to 52 and she said around 46.
How much she fibbed on that as people tend to lie a little bit about how little they pay for new vehicles and how great of gas mileage they get.

I agree, however, the platinums are holding their value much better than the other trims. The only used platinum max for sale in the DFW metroplex has 14k miles, RSE, 4wd but no hd tow. It's listed for $65k, down from an assumed $80k. And $65k is almost exactly what a comparable used 2018 Denali Yukon XL is selling for.
