Rumbling noise on turning 2017 exp LTD EL

No clutch packs in rear diff?

Yes, for Limited Slip.

There is nothing physical inside the Center Diff deciding percentages of Torque to distribute, and so forth.

Engaged, means 50% Forward.

Found out what’s likely causing my rumbling. So with the steering wheel centered I’m dead in for alignment. However with the larger tires and the spacers when I start turning at low speeds (below 15) the tires are actually being pushed due to the changed suspension geometry most likely caused by the Readylift 3/2 kit. Not sure if there is a fix for this as alignment is measured for when the wheels are pointed straight. Any thoughts? Are there maybe Different alignment specs for lifted vehicles?

No, The 3/2 is already pushing the geometry of the A-Arms. It is because of the Independent Suspension.

A relocation bracket or longer A-Arms would be the solution, but nobody is going to build a long travel kit for these trucks.

When I lifted my 06 I had to play around with a bunch of F150 aftermarket parts but I eventually found a combination of parts that worked to hold alignment and a mostly-normal ride. It was a real PITA, and was straight up trial and error; installing parts road testing, removing, and trying again. It helped that I had a friend who was a shop manager at the time so I got to use his lifts, tools, and alignment scanner after hours.

It's why I am hesitant to lift the 17 now. But I'm rooting for you to find a solution so I can copy you:grd:

I’m going to take my spacers off and see if that helps. Will also be looking at brakes like someone had suggested

Just weird that it has just started since this past winter. Lift and tires been on for about 2 years. Spacers since about december

Nope, Based it off experience on my previous Fords and the way this one acted.

One of those videos talks about PTU’s, which ours is not.

I am one who will admit when I am wrong. It appears we do have a Torque on demand Center Transfer case. It is a Borg Warner 4417. I am going to have to go do a bit more reading. I was wrong. If you have the 4A option there is a hydraulic clutch capable of delivering Torque on demand. I am impressed.

Confirmed my noise is from the tires being so wide with the spacers. When I turn at low speeds the tires are being pushed forward as they can’t turn fast enough due to angle of suspension and ackermann effect. Something I’ll just have to live with

ReadyLift suggests different alignment specs.
They are listed on the last page of the instructions.

Whether that will remedy your issue I can’t say.
