Hi

I consider to get a maintenance plan from Ford. How much is a 10k or 20k service without plan?

I could get a plan with 13 visits over 8 years for $1575. worth it?

Best coverage is the Premium Care, 8 years, 150k miles for $1,600.......covers pretty much everything. There are cheaper products but you get what you pay for. I’ll get the link and post it below.

I guess you can tell the premium from Lombard Ford is better than the 13 visit deal. Get your quote from them and your dealer will match it. Sounds like your quote is a maintenance plan instead of a total coverage deal.

I see....you’re looking for a maintenance plan instead of the Ford Premium Care plan which covers/warranties everything for up to eight years. Can’t give you any info on the maintenance plan as I haven’t researched it at all.

Are there deductibles with the maintenance plan?

Warranty is warranty but if nothing is broke just still have to change oil, wiper blades

Ford says $0 deductibles, but I guess material, other than oil is not included.

Comes up to ~$115 per service visit (oil, oil filter, work included). Good deal?

Maybe in Dallas Here in Virginia there are a couple dealerships that have free oil changes, state inspections($16 yearly), engine and parts and services guaranteed for as long as you own the vehicle. No material fee or any fee when you take it in just drop off and pick up. This one dealership in particular not only does that on new vehicles but used as well.

Is there any other service besides oil change? Because aren't the multi point inspection intervals with the warranty as well?
$115 for a oil change is a big price but what's that Texas motto "the bigger the better"

Also, just see that shocks are part of maintenance plan. I guess taking a 125k miles plan would at least once change shocks which are ~1200 parts only....so only from this it looks like a good deal...

1000mls , 2019 Plat, just 1 week old

Did your dealership offer the three free oil changes for first year? I take it that your dealership doesn't give new buyers the lifetime power train warranty? I purchased the “electronic systems” warranty only. The salesman didn’t even mention a “maintenance plan” for the Expy we bought in Oct 18. Not sure what that plan covers but you mentioned shocks......if it covers oil changes, wipers, air filters, PCV valve, EGR stuff like oxygen sensors etc, brakes/rotors, tires, plus more then it may be worth it, however, most all that stuff will be good for 6-7 years at the least. Bottom line, it’s your money and you will spend it as you will but I would pass on the maintenance plan if it were my money. Good luck in your endeavors....

Scheduled Maintenance
The following services are representative of required maintenance for your vehicle. Your actual plan will be based on your vehicle’s maintenance needs as indicated in your Owner’s Scheduled Maintenance Guide:

  • Change engine oil and replace oil filter
  • Inspect and rotate tires
  • Inspect brake pads/ shoes/ rotors/ drums, brake lines and parking brake system
  • Inspect wheel ends for end play and noise
  • Inspect and lubricate steering linkage, ball joints, suspension and, if equipped, halfshafts, driveshafts and u-joints
  • Change transmission fluid
  • Replace fuel filter
  • Replace engine air filter
  • Change engine coolant
  • Replace PCV valve
  • If equipped, change transfer case fluid
  • If equipped, inspect and lubricate 4x4 front axle shaft u-joints
  • If equipped, lubricate 4x4 front hub needle bearings
  • If equipped, lubricate 4x2 front wheel bearings, replace grease seals and adjust bearings
  • If equipped, fill diesel exhaust fluid
Coverage Includes
Premium Maintenance from Ford Protect covers routine inspections, preventive care and replacement of normal “wear and tear” items that require periodic attention, including:

  • Engine oil and filter changes Yes
  • Multi-point inspections You will know if these items they listed go bad. And inspection does not cover fixing. only half of what our state inspection checks for $16 a year.
  • Tire rotations Once then where ever you buy new tires they will rotate for free
  • Brake pads and linings , they will put cheap one so probably 3 to 4 changes but, only one change needed if you put good ceramic pads on
  • Shock absorbers/struts Only if they go bad otherwise they probably wont change
  • Spark plugs change once
  • Clutch discs Not needed
  • Engine belts Once if that
  • Engine coolant hoses, clamps and o-ring seals Once if that
  • Wiper blades three or four changes of the cheap ones Twice @ $50 a pair for good ones.
  • Diesel exhaust fluid fill at the time scheduled maintenance is performed at dealership Not needed
Must be something different in Texas, they will do routine scheduled warranty check ups here. Dealers do it here for free to find something they can fix and charge you for.

You’re pretty much describing our thought process in our decision to get the plan.

Anyone after some time now have thoughts on cost of the maintenance plans vs just paying for each service maintenance need? How much is a nornal oil change for the Exp at the dealer?

Watch out for the time creeping up on you if you don’t drive a lot. I had to argue when I 3 change plan had a trap door on the time. I paid for 3 changes and nothing was said about it had to be in 2 years. I was about 3 months past the two year mark when I took it in for the third change. Was a dealer plan and not thru an Oem so ymmv
