Just got my 04 4x4 SSV. Former Fire Department truck; I suspect it was an admin vehicle since it's in near show room condition at 96000 miles. This one has the 5.4, police console (no radios, of course), front grill guard / push bar. Oddly enough, this one does not have skid plates. the VIN does come back as an SSV. still has three antennas on the roof, though it's missing one of the roof rack cross bars and they took all the lights off. There's a 2" hole in the left front fender I have to cover.
The radio won't power up, the PDLs won't function, and the key fob doesn't do anything. the back doors won't open from the inside, but I suspect that's a function of some police lock I can see on the inside of the door jamb, if I ever figure it out.
I did get it checked out by a mechanic before I bought it. needs front ball joints and boots, and a rear rotor. runs like a new car.

My 2008 was first used as a police vehicle and repainted for the fire department of the same town. I voted in your poll.

I was looking at 2018 Expedition Max XL (not XLT) used models with less than 3k on them. In the Car Fax, it states one owner, Government vehicle. Does that also include police or would that be listed separately?

Also why would the our efficient government only buy a vehicle for less than a year?

You can see the scars on the wall.....must not have been a pleasant ride on the other side:)

Picture of pup when he was about 9 months old (he is much bigger now)

Removed the prisoner partition to the front so my son could hear me. He said he liked it better with it up except he couldn't get out:)

All of the interior lights don't work and some the other lights have issues. Need to find someone to figure it out, above my electrical skill level.

How much did they want?

Btw, be aware that although Ford USA doesn't sell XLs to the general public, Ford Canada DOES... and they start at like 40-something grand.

So a used SSV, especially one with a dubious history like that, should cost 30-something, tops

And it probably has one accident. Unless it got ordered for transporting the boss of a department that got cut or something.

Do you mean the lights don't turn on when you open the doors? Or can't be manually engaged?

If doors, then that's just Dark Mode (police settings), codable via ForScan or Dealership

Here are the search results from Autotrader for 2018-2019 Max Expedition 4x4 XL trim. Have to scroll down a bit to the beginning of the lowest priced ones. Upper 30s asking price. New ones here in the USA for asking price of $50k +

I agree with Adieu. A low mileage government car has usually been hit, sold at auction and repaired. Just check it carefully. An expensive car like that could have rolled over and it would be worth fixing.
