I've had 3 documents (1 handicap placard) slid down my front center console just to disappear down a crevice under the climate control area and above the door to the usb charging area.
Has anyone else had this problem?
How in the heck am I going to retrieve these docs w/o tearing the whole dash/console apart?

The gap on mine is super small, I can't see how a key or even a phone would fit in the gap. A business card maybe but my little finger and phone don't fit that is for sure! I wonder if there is a bigger gap on the higher trim levels?

Yes, several threads. Poor design. Seems it may vary per trim or per vehicle. I lost a pair of sun glasses down my gap. I'm not sure if there is a easy way to take it apart.

I am curious what yours looks like that it is big enough for sunglasses! That is a massive gap! I literally tried to see what I could fit into mine and there is no way to get anything more than a credit card or something in there. The gap is smaller than a pencil, curious if something is missing.

It’s right here:

The gap is at least as big as the little handle on top of the sliding door over the wireless charging cubby. Perhaps they fixed it on post 2018 model years. I’ve lost a few things down there.

Pardon the dust.........on the left and the right, it's about 1/4 inch gap. The middle is over an inch gap (yes, an inch) but does taper down toward the back, so not sure exactly. Maybe 1/2 inch? I always have the "sync" door closed. That probably doesn't help. It's truly a good size gap, and I don't think anything is missing. Guess it's time to buy some black weather stripping!

I posted the link about my Iphone getting lost down there last year. I slid the USB/wireless charging compartment open in the dark thinking my phone was in there, but it was actually on top and went down that hole. It was almost 3 hours of labor at the nearest Ford dealership to pull it apart and retrieve it. Had to pay 100% even though the vehicle was only a few weeks old. They claimed it was a design flaw, not a defect, so it wasn't covered by the warranty. Not the best way to win over a new Ford customer.

Ha Ha. Okay, so I went to go check my FX4 to see about this gap.. I never knew I even had a sliding door. I just thought maybe the cover didn't come on the XLT versions and only the higher trim levels. Turns out, I do have the door, but always leave it opened because of the USB cable and/or charging pad. And of course, the handle for the door slides back into that gap if the door is open.

After reading a few of these threads I had to go check the gap. No way I would lose my IPhone in there. The iPhone charger end just fits in to the gap.

Man, that's messed up. Guess it varies by year, trim, maybe even truck to truck. I can actually fit a finger in my gap. Guess it's weatherstrip time.

I tried to send my iPhone into the gap on my 19 Platinum and no way it would fit. There is definitely a gap, but no where big enough for that.

Big enough for some papers, license, credit cards, etc... but not a phone or glasses.

We lost a $25 restaurant gift down there in my 2018 - it slid out of sight when I braked in the restaurant car park. We got it back by carefully prizing the trim on the side away from the carpet (in the driver’s foot well) and voila, it slid out. I don’t see how on earth you could lose anything much thicker than a credit card in there. Anyway, we are more careful now after that scare!

I agree with both of you, but did you see my picture? My gap is pretty big. So again, either Ford fixed it, or it just varies. Perhaps on earlier 18's it was worse. As you said, I'm MUCH more careful.
