Correct, but their early build rear bars were defective and possibly damaging the 2018+ units according to a rep I spoke with. She informed me that they are re-vamping this part so it won't cause any damage and they are backordered for a month because of this. Same part numbers and all, just updating the bar. Glad I waited I guess..... :)

Damaging how?

Damaging how?

She wouldn't say any more. I specifically asked if it was an update and she said not really. I asked what it was then....She said some of the previous bar kits were damaging stock parts and this was a fix for their part to end that. She was not friendly and sounded like she already told me more than she was supposed to...... I couldn't pry anymore info from her! lol

Talked to Hellwig again today as a follow up...

THEY did have an issue with the 7688 bars. [theyre] building a new die and finishing test runs as we talked. The [current] bars didnt cause damage, they were too narrow to install at all.

It’s getting fixed and
[they] should have shippable bars very soon.

Great find, I couldn't get any good info from the lady I spoke with. She was not interested in helping. I assumed the 4th gens geometry was different some how/ some way. This proves it. Can't wait for my bar to show up.

Went to store today. The sway was much worse with the lane keeping on. Hadn’t driven since bringing it home from shop. So first real chance to see that in action. It causes a fight and that contributes to sway. Need to turn that stuff off.

As you know, I have all the babysitters shut off on mine.

The more that BS tries to correct it, the more it's going to sway.

Id been running the warning/alert on low (same as when I ran it on our '17 f350 crew cab long bed)....I finally shut off the assist portion because even it was a bit brutal if not abrupt.

our '17 f350 did not have the "assist" and I must say I am glad - cause even on the low setting the "assist" is heavy handed....and enough to make me stop using it all together.

I can stomach the low(est) level of warning in some instances/long drives but for the most part, ill keep it off.

You can still have the warning without the assist.

Had to go get stuff of my kids at their school today. Turned lane keep off. Didn’t know you can’t cancel the alerts. Think I liked it better with a bunch of stuff broken.

What alerts? I have most everything I know of shut off on mine and I don't see any alerts unless I'm missing them. Either way, I love not having a babysitter watching me drive and nagging on me. If I want someone to tell me how to do things, I'll call my wife! lol

I’m pretty happy with my cheap 2018 XLT. Good ride on 20” OEM wheels, no obtrusive tech to keep to interfering with the driver... less to go wrong.

you absolutely CAN turn off the alerts & assist - temporarily by the dash mounted switch or completely via the drivers assist features menu...see page 246 of the 2020 printed owners manual.

From the HTML manual -

System Settings

The system has optional menu settings available.
The system stores the last known selection for each of these settings.
You do not need to readjust your settings each time you switch on the system.

Adjust the settings to enable one of the three modes:

Alert Only

Alert Only — Provides a steering wheel vibration when an unintended lane departure is detected.

Aid Only

Aid Only — Provides steering assistance toward the lane center.

Alert + Aid Mode

Alert + Aid — Provides steering assistance toward the lane center.

If your vehicle continues drifting out of the lane, the system provides a steering wheel vibration.
Note: The alert and aid diagrams illustrate general zone coverage. They do not provide exact zone parameters.

Intensity: This setting affects the intensity of the steering wheel vibration used for the alert and alert + aid modes. This setting does not affect the aid mode.
  • Low.
  • Medium.
  • High.

Ya, mine is all shut off. I told the dealer I wouldn't accept it until he helped me shut all that BS off before I drove away with it. :)

you can’t shut off the alerts. Stuck with those. Maybe the dash switch does that?

That’s what the button on the dash does. Turns it on or off. Screen menu is for selecting alerts and assistance levels.

Mine is ALL off. One day I bumped that button by accident trying to play with the traction control and then I felt some shaking and I was like WTF is going on. I deleted that real quick once I figured out what it was trying to even do. It thought I would be better off killing a pedestrian than crossing a stupid line.... nope.

I found one good use for it. I was in a pretty good snow storm and it was able to see the road better than I could.
