Has anyone installed a real oil pressure aftermarket gauge for the 5.4 ?

I mean, the same filter has been on the modular engine since 1991, so it's not like a 22mm thread is common or anything... If they're listing a 20mm thread it's not for the FL820S.

Just curious. Saw this one the F150 forum and wondered why this wouldn't work.

"tapped into the oil pressure by putting a T fitting where the original oil pressure "idiot gauge" sending is located, behind the oil filter. My first attempt was with one of the plastic lines that come with the gauge, which melted within an hour and dumped about a quart of oil (that's why the oil pan looks so wet). The stock dash "gauge" never even flickered.rotz.gif"

It will work but it's just hard to get to. I plan to go this route but with an electric sender one.

Hello,
Thank you for your response. My apologies, I thought you were referring to the Oil Filter Sandwich not being listed. We currently do not have a package for the Ford Expedition. Our team continues to research and plan different packages that are requested. I will send this over to our development team and maybe in the future that could be an option for us! Thank you for your feedback regarding this, Brent.
Thank you & have a wonderful day,
Nicole M

And all the ones are 20mm on Ebay so nobody has the sandwich adapter for the Expy.

I used the linked glowshift sandwich adapter on my 5.4L 2011 Expy.

CAN Bus is the data network the truck's different computer modules use to communicate.

Tell me what is different about a 5.4L in an F150 vs an Expedition. Do they both use the same FL820S oil filter? Yep. How would a sandwich adapter work on an F150 that uses the same oil filter as an Expedition, but the sandwich adapter wouldn’t work on an Expedition?

I am utterly shocked that something sold on ebay doesn’t work as advertised. This is a first....... Someone must tell someone about this....... But the ebay listings show it fits an Expedition, right? If the internet says it, it must be true.

As far as Glowshift not knowing, they don’t know for sure and aren’t willing to stick their necks out on a line without first testing themselves. They don’t know that the 4.6/5.4/6.8 Modular motor uses the same oil filter throughout the history of the mod motor. They haven’t had one in their shop, so they aren’t going to say for sure. And when it comes to owners that modify, F150 owners are much more likely to modify over an Expedition owner.

For as old as you are, you didn’t do much “hot rodding” back in the 60s and 70s, did you? All those guys doing parts bin swaps to make more power...... “but the catalog doesn’t show that this part fits Granada.....” had to do exactly what we are doing here: if it fits that and I have the same thread/bolt pattern.... it should work. People put f150 leaf springs on their Explorers. I guarantee you that swap doesn’t show up in the spring catalog.

So I guess Glowshift has it but doesn't even know it. At $42 total I will just go with the port near the filter mount.

Why do you say that when you know nothing about me?

Same here. I'd probably go with the Econoline van E350 5.4L version oil pump, heavier duty.

Where is there indication an E-350 oil pump is heavier duty than an Expedition pump? Just curious. I am doing the tensioner and guide jazz on my 5.4 and purchased the oem oil pump from Ford specific to my vin. If I look up the oil pump for a 2007 F-350 5.4 3V it comes up the same 9L3Z-6600-A as Expedition. The 3V pump also has a higher MSRP than the 2V pump found in the E-Series which is the 5L3Z-6600-A.

Thanks for sharing that, I was thinking about using that nylon tubing on mine. Why did you leave the stock idiot light switch in? I read that if you ground the wire to the stock gauge it will act like it has good pressure on the gauge.
