Has anyone installed a real oil pressure aftermarket gauge for the 5.4 ?

Too bad you didn't have time to work on any cars.

I’ve been working on cars for 20+ years. Anything from general maintenance to modifications for autocrossing and offroading and even just general personalization.

I bet you don't even own a toolbox, oh wait! you might have bought one but it's now full of your old engineer books.

........ good one......

I’m not the one who doesn’t realize that a sandwich plate adapter for an F150 won’t also fit an Expedition.

You’re not helping your case. A sandwich plate adapter for an F150 will also fit an Expedition..... A hot rodder would recognize the similarities between 2 different models yet share the same drivetrain will have parts that fot each other.

Even the people that make them don't know, call them.

How many confirmations in this thread alone do you need that it also fits Expeditions. I don’t care what their website or “whoever answers their email” says. The 4.6, 5.4 and 6.8 blocks are virtually the same- especially in regards to the oil filter. A sandwich plate adapter that fits one WILL fit another.

How is the Expedition block different than the F150 block?

Answer that.
It's not the engine difference and it should fit but the maker said it won't (maybe no clearance around it on the Expy, IDK) I don't like buying things that probably work and then shipping them back, call Glowshift and tell them how stupid they are.

At least TWO people have responded on this thread saying they used that sandwich plate adapter on their Expeditions. But I guess they must be mistake because the internet said differently.

what is on an Expedition block that isn’t on an F150 block? Answer: nothing. You could swap one for another and never know the difference.

Like I said before, the manufacturer isn’t going to know all the ins and outs of every engine combination used on every single vehicle they sell parts for. And they aren’t going to say that it fits without verifying it themselves to remove all liability.

In one comment you basically called me a “dumb engineer” that doesn’t know how to spin a wrench. But in another, you take the word of the tech line respondent on face value. Perhaps all your double speak would serve you best in politics.

I don’t even see where it lists the various fitment on the website:
https://www.glowshiftdirect.com/oil-filter-sandwich-adapter-22mm-1-5-thread/

How do all the people in the reviews know that it fits their vehicles? One user even claims to have installed it on a 2008 F150, yet in the “search by vehicle” drop down, there isn’t even a selection for a 2008 F150!!!! How can this be?!?!? No matter what vehicle I select, I don’t get anything other than gauge pods as results- no sandwich plate adapters show up for any vehicle.

Let’s check Amazon.....
https://www.amazon.com/GlowShift-Oil-Filter-Sandwich-Adapter/dp/B007SXL754?ref_=ast_sto_dp

More reviews of people claiming to have installed it on their 3V 5.4L. Some don’t list what vehicle, because you simply don’t need to. A 3V 5.4 is a 3V 5.4. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say this will even work with the 2V motors! <gasp> And the 4V motors! <gasp again> And dare I say the 6.8L V10!!!!! Or pretty much any of the dozens of vehicles that use the FL820S filter. The Dodge Viper even uses that filter...

Just in case anyone else is interested, here is a picture of the adapter plate on my 2007 F-150. Sorry, I know the lighting sucks.

I use the GlowShift sandwich on my Gen3 Expedition. 5.4L
Here is the link to the one that absolutely fits. It's on my truck right now. It has never leaked.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007SXL754/

I honestly don't see why there's so much debate on this.

It's just because Glowshift doesn't list the Expy and they didn't think it fit when I emailed them even though they make it. I figured that was the case and it probably did fit but I don't like buying things and shipping them back plus I don't want to pay $42 total so I am going to go with a fitting in the engine port when my gauge gets here.
From the maker;

Hello,
Thank you for your response. My apologies, I thought you were referring to the Oil Filter Sandwich not being listed. We currently do not have a package for the Ford Expedition. Our team continues to research and plan different packages that are requested. I will send this over to our development team and maybe in the future that could be an option for us! Thank you for your feedback regarding this, Brent.
Thank you & have a wonderful day,
Nicole M

This thread was EXTREMELY painful to read. But I made it here.
07Navi, you are daft as F.

To everyone else, keep on enjoying your mechanical oil pressure gauges!
