Navigation Update

I downloaded the updated map files for my 2019 Limited. Now I have to leave the car running for about an hour to install. Really? Has to be a better way. Perhaps turn on ignition without starting, and attach a battery charger?

By far the easiest is just to idle. You can also drive why it does it. Don’t have to sit still.

I installed mine with the vehicle in the garage in accessory mode, everything off that I possibly could turn off (AC, interior lights, auto headlights, etc) with a battery charger hooked up. No issues. Can anyone tell me on a Navigator how to see the current installed map release? What is the current release?

NA119 is the Most Current version I have seen to date.

It is in settings, and about.

I did mine in the garage a few months ago and just let the engine idle, by the end of the the install there was a distinct burning smell. if I had to do it again, I would do it while driving around or at least in a more open area (driveway?).

I was able to download it free, or they charge $40 to send a flash drive.

That must be why there make it so difficult- so You'll pay the $40.

I did it for free. Not too hard. Just follow the instructions. If you pay the $40, you still have to install on your vehicle. Overall, I am happy. Grateful it is being offered for free online.

Got on the line today with customer support what a joke! They gave me the runaround for about 45 minutes and I spoke to three different agents.
They do force your hand into trying to pay the $40. I asked politely for them to send it for free and they said they could not do that. They even directed me to use my computer and download it to my own USB drive which was not an option available since I already downloaded it the first time.
Any advice without paying the $40 ?? would be much appreciated. It’s not the amount that matters it’s the fact that you get a notification that says free complementary upgrade and they force your hand! ....extortion!

Why would you try to download such a large file on your Phone? It clearly states in the instructions to use a computer.

Do you have the download? If so, can you transfer it to your computer?

You can also do the CyanLabs.net installer. It is free and will also take you to a newer version of Sync. Just for clarity...must use a PC for that. Not a Mac, or Phone.

You should have got an email confirmation for the order. There is a link on the email to download the file again. Follow the instructions to a T or you will have problems.
