i have a LED strip but i want mine to be incorporated not looking like i literally stuck it on...function pics look great...i think me having an 04 i can cut it into the lip of my tailgate due to the non-skip cover...i saw another 2nd gen with it when i was in florida but could never catch up to them to see how they installed it

If you get aluminum rigid panel, you can screw it on, that will look better. As for the wiring, drill a hole and use matching color g=rubber groummet would be fine. Yes functionally, it looks great.

Who cares if its ugly (besides you) if it functions as intended and can't tell at night it should be fine. I am looking to try and do that on my 3rd gen but have nowhere to conceal it - I am hoping maybe under the tailgate. Nice job though @RANDAL CHAO

Fixed one issue. Need to add 6ohm resistor to turn signal light wire. Otherwise the truck reports trailer light bulb problem. Fixed.

There is one more issue, the truck somehow thinks there is trailer connected (I only connect the trailer 4 pin light connector, but nothing to the hitch). and hence disables blindspot check. Is there any manual override on this? Really annoying.

Connect directly to the taillight wires not the trailer connecter

Yeah, I could have done that route. Need to take off the tail light assembly to tap to the signal wires. Thanks.

Now that wont exactly work if you have separate brake and turn signals in the rear, you will need a 3-2 wire trailer converter then

It works now. No need to connect to tail light wire. Somehow it was a software glitch that disabled blind spot feature with trailer connected. The service guy unconnected trailer harness, uncheck and check blind spot option settings. Reconnect harness and now it works.

Changed the tail light location, stick it right onto the black part of platform cover, very discrete now. Drill a hole to the side to route the wire in. Use rubber grommet to match bumper color. Don't even notice it more than 3 ft away. Pretty slick now.

i just tried to splice into the tail light to hook up a trailer hitch light. and it caused the brake light on the truck to stay on. i connected green and yellow wires from the 4 pin to the white with green stripe on truck for the brake light. and the brown from the 4 pin to the green/blue on truck. and white from 4 pin to ground. what did i do wrong? anyone know?
