Hidden compartment above glove box!

I was driving on vacation and my wife asked me if I had found the secret compartment yet. Huh? Then she showed me....just above the glove box there is a thin "trim"....and there is a small silver button on the left edge of that trim. Push the button and a door opens.... and while it is not tall....it is a wide compartment.

I had no idea it was there!!!

The area on the right side is for the manual envelope. Fits perfectly in there.

This is more of a funny/didn't expect that feature.

The Expedition is about 6-7 weeks old and we were taking about a five hour road trip (all interstate). I started laughing when the information display started flashing red and telling me I need to take a break while showing a steaming coffee cup icon?!?

LOL, I had my grown daughter and my wife on the trip and my first thought was "WTF! Like I need more women telling me what to do!"

Damnit, I'm old, my bladder tells me when to pull over...

Mine has told me to put my hands back on the wheel. But not to get a cup of coffee.

I did notice for the first time that the third row has a recline button.

I had my Expi for a year before I inadvertently held the voice control button a little too long. Next thing I know I have Siri talking to me (I have an iPhone). My phone was connected via BlueTooth but not by the cord since I Prefer Synch to ApplePlay. Now I can text all I want while driving using Siri.

My 9-year-old found that in the first 10 minutes... I think the only time I sat in the 3rd row was when looking at it pre-purchase to see if it would fit my kids when they got bigger.

Yup, 10 minutes, no freaking idea why they would think we need THAT light to stay on for 10 minutes. It's also the only one that doesn't change color with my ambient lighting.

I know this is an old thread, but seriously!? I was banging my head in the snow at the ski area last night, afraid to leave the vehicle. I was sure there was a way to turn off that ridiculous light.
Thanks to the geniuses here for the info, now I can sort of relax. FYI, in my scouring of the manual, I did find a message that said ANY interior light left on will turn off in 10 minutes. Kinda want to test this to put my mind further at ease.

That's why I carry a jump box. (just another part of my gear that always stays in the truck)
1 i don't like hooking my truck to anyone else's because you never know how or what they have hooked up or what's messing up their system to need a jump.
2 for issues like yours I would have gone skiing and not worried because I have my own jump in the back.
3 (it has usb power ports) good for charging phones, tablets and such when camping or power out in the house. just all around useful thing to have.

Which one do you have? I was thinking of getting one over the winter before next camping season.

How do you change the ambient lighting color? Where is the button for the ambient lighting? Mine is on and I find it annoying, but at least it's blue and not red.

MY20 didn’t get the capability to change the color of the ambient lighting. MY18-19 has it in the settings page to the extreme right via the sync menu.
