Thanks Loki.... next question, which version do I want? We both have 3.0 SYNC I am build 18093 and she is 18025, both with Nav. Just stable upgrade that is turnkey! (Especially for her, any quirks and I'll never hear the end of it!)

The newest 3.4.20282 is stable. Use it. Download the install builder from CyanLabs and follow the instructions. You can use the same installs on both.

You won’t. The majority(95%) of the people you hear of bricking it, attempted the actual firmware update early on(that has even gotten better). That firmware gains the original 3.0.XXXXX units the Calm screen and Radio icons. That is not worth the risk...

Hmmm, couple weeks ago, I tried new update to 20282, after previous 2 successful ones. Used new uploader and sync system would not take the update. Asked for advise here and got only crickets. Took her in to dealer and they had her for several days only to tell me they could not get the system to update either. They even said the parts were not right one for my vehicle. Longer story short, a new module was ordered... but is on back order....until early-mid february. System still works fine on 3.4 19200. We shall see what happens when new parts come in.

What is up with parts? Seriously, folks on here waiting 2-3 months for struts, I've been waiting 5 weeks for the front camera washer fluid assembly since it barfed all over the dealers floor... I know I know, Covid this and that. If anything, this proves how fragile their supply chains are.

Just to echo what Loki is saying, I've probably done about 12-15 of these updates now on mine with zero issues. Frankly, the only time I had any issue was with crappy thumbdrives.

Hey Loki, I'm assuming the ports in the vehicle are still some version of USB2 right? i.e. USB 2.1? Seems that if they were 3 this stuff would likely go a lot faster. I pretty only use USB3 sticks anymore.

Also, I definitely have not tried the firmware, just doesn't seem worth it. Everything else works fine.

When they replaced my rear shocks, parts were backordered. They had to get them sent from another dealer about 2 hrs away.

As for the updates. I've done probably 4-5 so far including the reformat from 3.0 to 3.4 with the map pack and no issues - ever.

part shortages are still common, especially service parts, as most vehicle production is currently bottlenecked with supplier parts from the covid shutdown. vehicle production parts will get priority over service parts for the majority of the suppliers.
