Hello everyone, new here :)
A few questions about our new 20’ Expedition:
1) can the ambient lighting change colors, on our 16’ Explorer we were able to pick our color.
2) has anyone had issues programming the garage door? We cannot get ours to program, we have tried everything & even had neighbors try :(
3) is it possible to keep the car in EcoBoost mode? Or do you have to manually switch it each time

Thank you-Ragan

1. MY20 only has ice blue ambient lighting (not sure about MY21). MY18-19 has 7 colors (my 19 has 7 colors).
2. No dice for me either with the garage door built-in opener.
3. Drive modes other than "Normal" must be selected at each engine startup.

I had difficulty with my GDO a few years back, and in my case it was solely because the unit had reached its limit of # of cars/openers programmed. When I cleared the memory and reprogrammed all the controllers I had no further issues. I now have a liftmaster, the issues I had were with a 20 year old Genie. The Genie required pressing a button behind a panel and then the program button within like twenty seconds. The only tip I'll give you that might work otherwise is that if you have a rolling code opener you may need to hit the desired program button twice - the first time the door won't open then the second time it will. With the newer opener I didn't have to fuss with the reset button on the side of the opener, so I think in general the older the opener the fussier the process but it really should work. The Home Link website has good vehicle and opener-specific instructions if you haven't tried that yet.

Thank you for the replies :)
I liked the choice of ambient color so that stinks :(
We will try to reset the garage door, it’s original to the house from 2012 so it might be a memory issue.
Stinks they offer the EcoBoost but you have to click the button like 7x just to get to it everytime you drive, not ideal :(

By EcoBoost, do you mean the Eco Mode? I initially agreed that it was annoying you couldn't make it default. However, after driving the Expy for 2 months, I now prefer Normal mode for around town driving - it's much more peppy! However, MPG does seem to jump up with Eco, so I do switch to it on the highway. It helps me be a safer driver cuz it accelerates like a slug ;). Fortunately, on 2018, it's only two clicks on the mode dial.
No luck with the garage door opener here either. The instructions in the manual seem overly complicated. @mlw001 thanks for the tip on the website - will check it out.

I did a write up for a solution on 2wd’s. It isn’t perfect, but it works well for me. I think I referred to it as drive mode memory.

On the garage door opener, as others have said, first reset the garage door opener to delete any/all codes. Next, each actual remote can usually only be used once, meaning you can't use the same opener for your car and your spouses. So if you program two homelink systems, you'll need two actual garage door openers.

Next, the programming can be different depending upon the door openers brand, but the majority of all of them these days use the same rolling code process. It is easier to do with two people, but you might be able to do it with the car in the garage, getting in and out fast.

Your vehicle is new so you may not have to do this, but I usually like to reset homelink as well. If i remember correctly, you hold down the two outer buttons for several seconds until the lights flash and I think they stay solid for second (but google reset homelink to be sure).

In general, once the opener has re-learned the handheld remote, you can start. Start by first doing the initial homelink learning. Hold down one of the homelink buttons and the button on your remote until the homelink LED starts to flash slowly. Then you or someone else should start the opener learning sequence (usually a learn button on the opener). Then quickly get back into your vehicle and press the programmed button on homelink a few times, until the garage door opener starts to operate. Should hopefully be it.

As for the ambient lighting, mine changes color easily, but you do it through the headunit. On the Sync3 system, go to settings, and one of the options should be Ambient lighting. Now I say that but that might be a package specific upgrade I suppose.

Thanks everyone we will try to reset the garage door and see, because we have tried everything else listed.
I did mean Ecomode, sorry not ecoboost.
Didn’t see anything under ambient lighting in settings (on the sync screen) so I’m thinking the 2020 doesn’t change colors :(
