Hi,

My switch for the flip window doesn't work anymore, however, 85% of the time when I start the vehicle, the back window flips open, and I have to get out and close it. Any idea what could be causing that? Perhaps just need to change the switch? Strange thing is, switch isn't working at all, but what is causing window to open only when I start vehicle with push start. If I remote start, then get into vehicle, the windows doesn't flip open...

Also, my power running board settings changes once in a while from Auto to Off, and sometimes I open the doors and there is no power until I hit ignition switch, like the vehicle doesn't wake up. Initially, I thought the issue was the battery, bought the vehicle this summer, used, and battery had red (orange) eye, so I changed the battery thinking that would fix the problem, but to no avail.

Any suggestions welcomed.

Thanks!

I would start with replacing the switch. It sounds like it is shorted. The remote start logic probably ignores the window switch for security reasons.

This is the problem with all the "computer" controlled functions in every vehicle made today. If you still have the problem after disconnecting the switch you would need a schematic and know the logic behind all the inputs that make the windows work. The fact that you have issues with the running boards too make it more perplexing.

I so much want to buy a new Expy to replace my 01.

But..

V6 Turbo engine? No V8? People are towing with these?

Power rear hatch. Don't need, they break

Power Running Boards? Why in hack do I need that? They break.

Touch screen Infotainment ? What no knobs? How do I use that while driving?

Telematics? Do I really want big brother to know where I am going?

Power second and third row seats? Am I that lazy? How often do I need to do that?

They have just loaded these cars with electronic nonsense and now have run out of transistors on earth to build them. How will I fix all the wizardry in 10 years?

Just read all the complaints about these. It's not just Ford. Hyundai has screwed up as well putting fire ******* engines in the new cars.

I agree with most of that and they do tow quite well.

I've got a 2017 XLT and it doesn't have the power hatch.

The Twin-Turbo V6 is a torquey engine and it gets pretty decent gas mileage for a giant brick.

You see very few posts on here about power lift gate problems.

Now, power running boards and sunroofs, on the other hand......................

That's why I just keep mine closed, that's what windows are for. My boards always work fine but I can throw a motor in one if needed.

I'm still leery of turbo motors in gas engines. they should have fixed the problem by now, but I was there when turbo motors started creeping into the mainstream; they were generally short-lived. they weren't being built for the higher load, then. after so many years of 100K motors, it's just too hard for me to pay the turbo premium for power I'll never use. I haven't had a performance car since my 70 GTO. it was a monster, and I loved it, but all it got me was tickets and stupid girls (not that i was any smarter). it was not a turbo motor; it was a 400 CID with a 4 barrel carburetor with secondarys the size of barn doors.

So I’m not freaking crazy after all. I thought I was alone in those exact thoughts.

Regarding the posts about the 2014’s. That was the last year of the 5.4 3v. Didn’t that engine have cam phaser, chain guides, etc problems?

Tow quite well is an understatement. I’ve been in construction and own a family business that my grandfather started. Over the years of us towing equipment with numerous gas V8 trucks, F250’s, F350 camper specials, F350 dump trucks, and E350 vans all having 4:10 gears and one having 4:56’s gears, they couldn’t pull a grade anywhere near as good as my Ecoboost with 3:73’s. It’s an amazing engine if you give it a chance.

Transistors. *****.......

Sure, let's go back to carbs, points, crank windows, and 4 MPG for a 3 plus ton truck.

I started out with something like that. It sucked ass, so no thanks.

Needing to carry a spare set of points, a feeler gauge, and having to stop every 350, 400 miles to change 'em....hell with that noise.
My truck doesn't even have heated seats (it's a lowly XLT), has the HD tow package though so there is that.

If you want to drive a 1975 truck then buy one, I much prefer the amenities of the Expy LOL.
