What are we trying to protect against down that low?
Its like adding the FX4 skid plate and getting 15 degrees better approach angle and bumper all in one. So you could ask Ford why they added the skid too the FX4. Probably all the CAC plumping, wires and front diff.

Thanks for such a detailed post. I've been very interested in one of these for a while. Looks good!

What about front recovery points now that this is installed? Looks like one could still install a behind the bumper winch in the front, but the recovery hooks are totally gone?

Yes, the tow hooks are gone. LGE-CTS said they are working on a skid plate and hooks that would work. I don’t think it would take much to built a longer hook and cut an opening in the skid. I will probably built a longer plate with a hole to hang a shackle on each side. Keep The shackles off until needed. The factory hooks are pretty weak looking.

What happened with the front bumper sensors? any dash lights or warnings?
Yes, it it says parking aid fault on the dash every time you start it. At Radom times it shows a picture of the expedition with the warning sign on the entertainment screen. I will get the sensors back on. Shouldn’t be to hard to print mounts and relocate them.

Took a lot of commitment to make that cut in the front bumper without any template. It does look good.

Side question: what diameter is that front bar? 1 1/4?

Made a few prototypes, one with screws showing through the front for easy install and one with the screws hidden. The two pieces will sandwich the plastic bumper pieces and the sensor at the same time. The silver is not a perfect match, but should be good enough. Once I get them to fit I will turn the print quality up and clean them up. Anyone have any ideas on sensor mounts?
