Hi! I have an 09 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer EL. Currently it won't Shift out of park! It doesn't feel like the button on the shifter is being "engaged" (I'm not a super car savvy person but I know some basics) and I do hear a clicking noise in the dashby the steering wheel column. I can't figure out what's going on though and really need to use my vehicle lol don't want to have to get it towed either! Any ideas??

Will it shift at all if the vehicle is completely off and you hold the brake pedal down and try shifting it?

There a little rectangular plastic cover thingie next to the shifter. Pop that off, take your ignition key, stick it in the hole, and shift into Neutral. From there remove the key and start the truck like normal.

The Park override function is discussed starting on page 298 of your owners manual. Is "Park" displayed in your instrument cluster readout ? If your brake lights don't come on with the ignition in the "ON" position it's probably a faulty brake switch (on the brake pedal under the dash...), and that will keep you in Park unless you manually override it.

What's the instrument cluster readout?
The PRNDL. Or in this case the PRND21. If the P doesn't light up when in Park but the others will light when it's in those positions you may have a problem in the solenoid that lets you shift out of Park. If the P does light up the problem is most likely your brake light switch.
