They are Genuine Ford. Alot of Ford Performance parts are just ordinary Ford production parts repackaged.

What I can’t tell you is if the 4.6 and 5.4 assemblies are the same, looks like they are but that will need to be confirmed.

Curious how difficult it is to change these . Can the cam be left in place?

Giving this set a good look. Installing a timing set and high volume pump. Both tensioners had failed seals on them. 106k on truck. Rediculous. Anyhow, the passenger side followers had a noticeable amount of play in them, as compared to driver side. Little wear on cam bearing journals too.
Funny, my 97 dakotas 318 has 230k on it, never gone further in than the spark plugs. Burns a little oil, but runs fine. Overhead cams, meh.

Did phasers, chains with cast iron early tensioners, followers and pump on a 4.6l.
There are a few tools that make job easier (see you tube videos).parts are same between both except chains and maybe guides 5.4l chains are longer. I think 4.6l has one black link and 5.4l has two or vice versa . Also added Edlebrock high volume water pump for good measure .

Yes, just need one of the service tools to compress the valve and then you can wiggle them out. Need to be cognizant of piston location before you try removing. Plenty of vids on you tube a out locating the crank

Guys the package arrived today .. according to the description and comments they claim to be OEM ford parts .. the box other than the sticker on the end was nothing special just an ink stamp on the side… the bags inside were taped badly and the contents could have easily fallen out. No individual wrapping like the genuine OEM ford item that I initially ordered.
Looking at a comparison the machine markings do look identical and they both are the upgraded item with the smaller oil port.
24 of the wrapped ones you see were $445 around $18 each and all individually wrapped.
The one I received today from Ford Performance parts was $335 plus a full set of lash adjusters ..again probably another $400 or so if bought separately.
Too good to be true ??

Ok so when I opened the bag of 24 lash adjusters and inspected the bottoms it’s obvious these are used … even the oil smelled old which was the first give away these were not new parts .. on a surface glance you might think they look shiny and new.. this is a shame, I wonder from the comments under the ad if some of these buyers have dropped them into a rebuild and a few thousand miles later could be looking at a do over with damaged cams etc .. when I messaged the seller they immediately agreed to a refund and return .. I looked over the ad again and nowhere does it state USED.
It’s a scam guys $335 for items that could’ve come out of a 200k motor.
It was too good to be true.
Genuine new packaged RFs and lash adjusters going in!

How long did the tick go for ? And did the RF pop out ?
The previous owner of my Navigator said it ticked all the time but didn't give how long. I bought the truck knowing full well I'd be tearing the engine apart. I decided this within moments of turning over the engine. The roller follower was knocked off the valve stem/lash adjuster. The tensioner also had a typical failure at the gaskets.

They came in a brown box in bags, loose like loose change ( all together in one bag, and oil coming out of them )
Used?
