Hi
I need some assistance with my remote start. I tried doing the bypass programming to keep it running when you open the doors with remote start.

I’m not sure what happened now remote start doesnt work. Neither of the two remote fobs. I’m getting 4 honks when you try to remote start it.
Also it’s honking (chirping) three times shortly after I start it with the keys. Two key both work. Everything worked as it should and no engine lights on prior. I’ve been searching for answers and watching videos for a few hours now. 2014 with factory ford remote start , 5.4 EL model
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

I may not have the solution, but I know what caused the problem as I did the same thing to mine.

Years ago, I followed a procedure I found online to turn off the remote start door interface. It involved using a button under the dash and pressing the brake pedal to blindly step through a deep menu system using beep codes.

This procedure was used for setting many different things, including shutting off that door function and the one we used was for a different build and not exactly correct for our specific truck.

It took me 2 Ford dealers to find a tech that knew how to reset it to factory and I never tried again.

However that was before I knew about Forscan and I believe using FORSCAN you can both reset the wrong bit that was incorrectly set and set the right bit to turn off the door interface when starting from remote.

Post this in the Forscan section.

Here is your full guide and problem fix if you have the oem system:

In general:
If you have one button or your remote start key does not beep to inform you of car started then you have 1-way
2-way is two buttons and your key beeps to inform of car started

My advice:
- Find the programming button
- You might have to remove the driver's knee bolster panel for easier access to the programming button but it's just 3 bolts and some clips and takes less than 2 min if I'm remembering correctly
- Follow the steps and start by relearning your remote start keys
- Technically you can go and look at your part number to see what type of RMST Module (system 100 vs 200) you have or just try to go to bank 3
- If you get sent back to bank 1 then you have the older system 100
- Reset all to defaults
- Try to remote start and if your vehicle does not turn on then change door trigger polarity to the opposite setting (I'm pretty sure this is the one but you can experiment)
- To keep vehicle running when door opens is unlisted options 7 or 8 in bank 2 (I think, just play around with it and change one thing at a time and try to remote start)
- I installed system 100 so will not be able to help much if you have system 200

Often factory installed remote systems will not start the vehicle remotely with the fob IF there is one or more stored trouble codes, which may have illuminated the check-engine light. The honks and no-start are designed to alert you to the issue.

The 4 beeps when attempting to remote start won't go away by itself.

I have and used the same exact document to attempt to remove the door interlock on the remote start and ended up with the same problem as the OP.

If you notice, the document states Expedition 2007-2010. I attempted on my 2011.

Maybe try unplugging the module from the harness to reset? Idk

I got my module and harness off a totalled 2012 navigator from ebay. As long as the part number for the module is the same it should be fine.

If your vehicle/ remote start was working fine before fiddling with the settings then the fix would most likely be to unfiddle those settings. Or is that not how it works on these?

That is exactly what resolved my issue, which I said to the OP.

Soooo either the document we both have was not correct for my vehicle / firmware version of the remote system, or when I made my changes, I miscounted the beep codes or the brake pedal pushes or something like that. In any case, after my failed experience, I did not try again.

It is possible for your vehicle to have different firmware or document error.

But my sitting at my computer opinion is that it's more likely user error. The way way they set up the system to coordinate brake push with programming push with key button push with listening to the chirp amounts which happen pretty fast is not very user friendly and takes some practice to get right. Technically the concept is simple to execute but in application the story changes.

I had to cycle through quite a bit just because I wasn't sure of how many chirps I had and there's no way to go back, only forward until you reach the end of options and then start again from beginning.

I'd say don't be discouraged and give it another crack. Just keep your phone in your cupholder recording you and what changes you made for easy reference. And you can slow down the vid to count how many chirps you got. Don't let the remote start win.
