24 Limited cruise lane keeping not centered by a lot - adjustable?

Ok, so I've had my 2024 Ltd for about 4 months now and about 6k miles. Mostly love it and the new cruise control / lane keeping is nice except for one major pain. I like to run pretty centered but when I turn on cruise with lane keeping the Expy wants to run about 18 inches off the right line which and about 2 1/2 ft off the left line. 10-12" off center doesn't sound like much but It's noticeable enough that people who ride with me comment on it. To stay centered in the lane I have to keep pretty firm pressure on the wheel essentially fighting the lane keeping to stay closer to centered.

If I let it run where it prefers to minimize the amount of force I have to use when steering I'm uncomfortably close to 18 wheelers and big trucks on the right side. But to keep it centered I have to keep maybe 3-5 lbs of force to fight the lane keeping to stay centered. I just did my first long-ish highway run and after a couple of hours of basically fighting the lane keeping the whole way I now don't think I will be able to use it for long highway runs which seems like the place it adds the most value.

So any thoughts or experience? Is it possible to get Ford to "tune" the centering?

Interesting. My parents' 2022 likes to do the exact opposite: it hugs the centerline when we like to drive over to the right edge. I wonder if it has to do with sensor calibration as you mentioned.

Not sure how it works on the Expy, but on my old 18 F150 I recalibrated the camera and it also wanted the front height measured from ground to the top of the wheel arc or something like that.
The centering may be a little off here and there since not all roads have the same width to what the camera is calibrated to. Unless Ford changed that in 21 again.

Next time you do service at the Dealer, mention it, and have them run the calibration procedure. It will most likely help.

Appreciate the feedback. If it was just a thing that came and went with the road striping it wouldn't be so bad but its a pretty constant thing on a variety of roads. I figured there had to be some calibration but figured someone might have seen something similar.

@LokiWolf good suggestion. Mine likes to hang out on the edge of the road, so much so that it often triggers the lane departure warning. If it wasn't so scary it would be entertaining to watch the systems duke it out.

The IPMA can be calibrated fairly easily with FORScan. The procedure requires driving down a road with well-painted lane markings for a few miles while plugged into the laptop with FORScan running the procedure. It is very easy to do; no tech savvy-ness is needed.

Or, because it is under warranty, make the dealer do it with FDRS. They will also most likely update the module, which is a big deal and takes hours. It brings several improvements in behavior.

Some people would prefer to just do it themself even under warranty. Going to the dealer can be an inconvenience for some, so just putting the option out there. Warranty or not, I know I am not going to the dealer for something as trivial as this.

In terms of the IPMA update, I agree that if it does have a pending IPMA update, that will for sure provide improvements to the driver assist features. Those are my favorite. Nothing will cause me to fire up FDRS faster than a new IPMA update popping up for my truck.

How did you go about recalibrating your Blue Cruise? I have a right side of lane bias in my system. It feels as though you can reach out and touch the tractor trailer on my right side, it's so close.

My old F150 and my current Expy don’t have Blue Cruise. But that shouldn’t matter as the lane keep assist should be responsible for that. Back then I used Forscan to recalibrate the F150. Someone had way too much weight on the box and a trailer loaded too. Almost looked like a Carolina Squat. Needless to say, it didn’t take long for the camera to freak out.
I did recalibrate the camera it asked me what is the height measured from the floor to the middle of the wheel arch. Then you got to drive it on an interstate / highway where there is a center lane and a right lane within a certain speed range. Takes a few minutes a done. If you fail to put in that height measurement the recalibration will not succeed properly. Found that out the hard way.
