Feeling defeated

Expedition has been in the shop for a week. After a LOT of phone calls to dealer and endurance warranty they will only pay for $3100 of the $8500 transmission repair. I planned on keeping this rig for 30k more miles bc I have 35k miles of warranty left. I’m going to be out of pocket 5k+ to get it back on the road. I obviously have 0 faith in endurance now but I feel like I HAVE to keep the car bc it has dropped in value from 34k what I paid 2 years ago to 17-18k now PLUS I’ll be 5K deep on the replacement. I’ve been paying them for 2 years so I’m stuck, do I cancel that plan and just save the money each month in hopes I don’t have another major claim?? I can’t hardly stomach getting another policy through for which would be several thousand For only 2 years. What a terrible feeling. SMH. We love the car but it has been a nightmare of 2 years of ownership.

Perhaps contact an attorney that specializes in consumer issues to deal with Endurance?

I am sorry to hear about your situation.

There have been and currently still are multiple class action lawsuits and an FTC Investigation against Endurance. If you read through some of the information there may be something that would help you compel them to pay more or you can get some or all of your money back.

What really pis**ses me off, is well known celebrities like Danica Patrick, endorsing an obvious scam company like this. Celebrities have an obligation to use their public image in a responsible manner, not just endorsing any company or product that offers them money.

Well maybe celebrity was a poor choice of description. Maybe influencer, In any case, no one should be promoting a product without first looking into the product and the company behind it. Endurance is a 100% fraud and so is Carshield.

There are so many loopholes and procedures that owners must follow and when you sign a contract you are agreeing to their policies.
You must maintain the vehicle to manufacturers requirements, keep records and receipts for work done for maintaince. \Any modification will usually void the contract, especially if it is involved with the problem you are claiming.
Missed oil change, tune up, tire rotation, fluid changes, ect, will void the policy.
They even go so far to check the tire placard in the door frame and compare it to the size tires on the vehicle. If you have installed larger tires than specified, that will, depending on the company, be enough to deny a claim for anything having to do with power train and running gear.
If you signed an contract than basically there is nothing you can do to argue your case.....
My son is a lawyer and I had him read over one of their contracts just for poopy n giggles and he wouldn't waste his time trying to fight one of these companies.
Its like gambling at a casino....the house almost always wins !!!

The correct solution is to not get involved with these companies in the first place.

Feeling bad for the OP who thought he was protecting himself from future failures and spent good money in the process.

These companies actions are nothing short of criminal, why the FTC got involved. I honestly think if more C-Suite executives were charged criminally in these situations and a few ended up with some time behind bars, there would be a whole lot less of this going on.

Instead, they pay a large fine, admit no wrongdoing and contiinue on rap*ing the public.

Funny (not funny) when I first got my Expy and joined here I recall another thread where a lot of guys were touting their extended warranties and I was like ... WHA????

My experience with consumer product extended warranties has always been that I've never had to use them. So, a waste of money. Sorry to hear in OP's case that he's TRIED to use his warranty and they are battling him.

I might argue with Grrumpy--to me the House *always* wins.

To any that are even thinking about an aftermarket warranty, remember....your vehicle must remain totally stock, right down to the tire size, no add on electronics that tap into other circuits, no intake/exhaust. blow off valves, ect. Every modification you make gives the company an automatic reason to deny your claim......and they already have your money, so its a loss-loss for you.
If your vehicle still qualifies for the Ford ESP then get it....may be more expensive initially, but end result is much better for you.
Or, as in my case buying a 2019 Expy....just go over it, check car fax for records, check with dealer...they can pull up any records for work done at ANY Ford dealership (if buying from a Ford dealer). maintain it and keep fingers crossed !!!

Just my $0.02. First, been my experience that a modification has to have correlation to the failed part. Changing tire size has no connection to a windshield wiper motor that has failed. IIrc it is the Magnuson Moss Act that explains it much better than I can.

I'm of the belief that buying a car new then running it beyond the warranty mileage limit is a risk that I'm not willing to take. These things are just too friggin' expensive to own without a factory service/repair plan. One pay's for medical insurance not intending to use it but are damn happy they have it if needed.

Lastly, any aftermarket outfit selling insurance using Danica as a spokesperson is something I'd run from.

I have purchased the Ford Premium ESP for all of our Expys, and although Ford’s ESP is not what it was 10 years ago in terms of zero BS / Games - it is still far superior to the others mentioned above as Ford has a dog in the hunt - buyer retention. Hopefully they keep that top of mind.

My post indicated that they could deny a claim if there was a modification in relation to the problem.....like oversize tires, or a lift, or spacers and the problem was with the suspension or the running gear. Example being oversize tires having a effect on the rear end, the axle bearings, the driveshaft, the transmission, ect ect ect. Jacking an aftermarket componant into the fues panel....well than can claim that disrupted the electronics. An aftermarket intake and damage the complete intake system, the turbos, ect. So it becomes very easy to deny a claim.
And, with a contract you signed, it is up to you to prove that that aftermarket intake system did not cause thousands of dollars damage to the twin turbos. They don't have to prove anything other than you modified a system that might have caused the failure.
Trust me, I've had my kid go over one of these companies contracts and there are so many loopholes and "outs" for the company, that it is more expensive to fight them than you will spend on the repair.
I wouldn't trust any of them no matter who spoke for them !!!!!

My general rule is that if a celeb/infloozer/newsperson etc is hawkin something, RUN, don't walk, as fast as you can to put as much distance between you & whatever they are pushing............

The above folks are only after ONE thing......a paycheck, and they don't give a rats ass about whether the product is good, bad or otherwise as long as they get their money...

I have to say my experience with an extended warranty company is exactly the opposite. I bought a 2018 Expy Max in 2023 with 66k miles and a 3 year extended warranty through Assurant that covered electronics and drive train. They replaced my transmission ($7500) and 2 wheel bearings, which were $800 each. I still have 3 months left so not expecting I'll get any more out of them. But I have to say they were easy to work with.

When I purchased our 2018 Expedition limited from Carmax (it was 2 years old at the time of purchase) I took out an extended warrantee they offered through Fidelity. A few months ago (late 2025) wham, the panoramic roof fails and won't close. Bring it to the dealer I use for service and they tell me the entire panoramic panel/system needs to be replaced. Horrendous design job there Ford using plastic tracks that break so easily.. The dealer quoted $5k to do the job. I provided the Fidelity extended paperwork and Fidelity checked it out and they covered it. According to the service manager Fidelity is one of the better extended warrentee companies.

I’ve tried like heck to get them to “re evaluate the claim” but I know it will not do any good. They keep saying bc I “continued operation” that’s why they won’t pay. I drove it less than 20 miles to the dealership for inspection. I had no codes, lights, warning, nothing in my app and my “ vehicle health report” still says good… they said I should have pulled over immediately when I felt one bad shift and towed it. I know this is just a cop out to get out of paying but damn it blows. Like someone above said they have so much language in their contract they can literally not pay out for any reason at all.

I asked dealer “why can’t I do the TSB??” They said they “don’t do TSB only full replacement”? That was a red flag to me. I’m calling back in the morning to speak with service manager. At this point I almost believe endurance more than dealer.

I’m going to talk to the manager this morning first and go from there. I’m a little worried based off the convo yesterday where he said they “don’t do the TSB” is bc they don’t have anybody capable of doing it.
