Question: How do you get at the clips on the engine side of the filter?

I can get at the single line coming from the tank, do you drop that first?

Once I un-do the hose clamp holding the filter in place, does that give you anymore room to

get at the two plastic clips? These clips seem to have locking tabs on them.

Don't want to break them off.

Thanks

You need a fuel filter removal tool to get those clips off. I broke the clips on my fuel line on accident.... If it's an old line it's going to be hard as hell to get them unclipped.

I had to tow mine to a garage after I broke the clips. There was no way to secure the new filter... It was a nightmare but my fuel pump needed replaced anyway and I can't do that myself. I got all new lines and a new pump in the process. I paid like $700 end of day including tow, new lines, filter, and pump.

The fuel filter on a 2008 model is a pain. You have to use the quick disconnect type tool on the single line side. And on the dual line side you have to squeeze the connectors and then push them down or use pick the pull down as you squeeze the clips to release the connection. I have tried disconnecting each side first on my 2008 and it does not seem to make a difference. If you have larger hands the dual line side of the filter has limited room to get your hand on top and squeeze the two clips to push the connector down and away. That is why I recommend a 90 degree pick to help but don't pull too hard.

I did mine while I was replacing the pump, new filter had new clips. I had to break the old ones and push them through.
