My brothers 1963 Pontiac Catalina. A huge car for a 16 year old, but I was thankful. I didn't have anything but a Yamaha 100 twin at the time.

1968 GMC PU with a 292 straight 6, 3 speed on the column (with overdrive) and 8 ft. bed with a camper shell.

I practiced with a couple sawhorses just down the road from the house (parallel parking).

When I told mom and dad I wanted to take the test my dad told me he didn't think I'd pass it and would not do to the State Police station with me. My mom went with me. I passed. We came home and I told dad I passed. He looked at me and said, "Just because you've got a driver's license doesn't mean you're going to get to drive the truck every time you turn around." I got to drive it three times in the next 6 months. Well, 3 times to go to my girlfriend's house. Driving it to get loads of firewood was okay in his mind. Driving to keep me from walking 4 miles each way was not okay.

I bet you had "fire wood".

Mid 90's in Michigan, there was no road test. The day you turn 16, you could take your permit to the SOS, pass a 20 or so question written test and you got your license.

1965 Plymouth Fury III 9 passenger station wagon. Bench seat up front, and the third seat faced backwards. My friends called it The Hearse.

We had a Rambler station wagon with a third row seat like that. As kids we had great fun making faces and taunting the drivers behind us. Got scolded quite a few times for that. Probably would have caused some road rage nowadays.
