Don't know if this F150 low power problem applies to your vehicle, but it might be worth a look inside/below the air filter. Some good talk on scan use also.

I like this guy for his knowledge and experience BUT I HATE youtube crapeos!

I'm glad I know it had an intake restriction but I would have like to not HAD A BIRTHDAY before he got to it!
And I'm NOT an impatient person.

He wasted all the scan time etc when he heard the air hiss from the beginning.
He is a smart guy and probably knew what to look for right of the bat but he JUST HAD to waste all the time and make it a more leaning exp!
I begrudge him the money and play time I just gave him!! ARRGH!!

Soon as you hear the hiss you open hood and look...soon as he saw the collapsed plastic and resonator box....knew it was blocked somewhere!

You know the KISS method....well how about a GTTP....Get To The Point method.
Did I mention I HATE repair videos?
I hate repair videos! I hate repair videos! I hate repair videos! I hate repair videos!
I hate repair videos! I hate repair videos!

Seeing or even reading that is a lot less painful that watching most all repair vids.

I had a similar surging issue, mine turned out to be the tensioner. It was bypassing enough fluid to effect my VVT.

I replaced my tensioners and installed a melling pump and its been smooth and powerful ever since!

Yours was probably able to rev past 4200 though.
Low revs are classic sign of restricted air in or air out or way too much oil.

Mine will rev up to the limiter, it just has to downshift and get the rpms past 3.5k and pull from there.

I changed the engine oil and manually cleaned the fuel injectors yesterday and that didn't help my issue. But when I emptied my catch pan today I found alot of fine metal shavings and some bigger pieces. My plan is to pull the valve covers and inspect the followers and cams.

Ya most of the people that make them are novices and they make me cringe sometimes. Makuloco makes money doing that though and I see him making mistakes sometimes or doing things the hard way.

I usually find his videos a lot more interesting but that was just way too long-winded and was a real waste of time getting to the actual point.

He is a real mechanic which is rare anywhere on the net unless they want money so it's a win-win situation because he does get paid but he does drag things out a bit and pretends to torque everything and actually doesn't but that's OK I just laugh about it. When I was a mechanic working in different garages I rarely saw a torque wrench anywhere.

I found one bad lash adjuster and both timing chain tensioners are blown out. I'll pull the front cover tomorrow and go from there.

Even the intro with that slow moving rusted steel door is too slow and I have to fast forward it. I told him and he said " I guess all the intros on your favorite movies are too long too".
