Ford does make them, or did but I think they came on the Police and fire trucks.

Nope. Comes with everything you need. Bolts on.

I have a 2012 XLT and I installed the RCI skid plate. Just checked and the plate went up 20 bucks. You can also get an OEM plate that was used on Police models for about 150.00. Not nearly as rugged as the RCI unit. Definitely worth the investment to protect the engine.
