Interesting picture, I have never seen that before, but it must be noisy.You could possibly have a broken pump that halfway works until it don't. Seen before

'08 F250 Owner said not very until it broke the casing & oil was pouring out. Oil light did come on before it quit. Chains and guides were gone as expected. He just had shop replace complete engine from Pick n Pull. Do not remember the mileage on the truck. Oil changes at 5k religiously.
That is known to happen on both the 5.0s and EcoBoosts when you take the rev limiters off with these crazy off the wall tuners. They blow the Gerator gear in the oil pump into pieces and the engine goes KABOOM in seconds. Shrapnel everywhere.

Thanks for the help 07Navi. Here is the followup.
I went for the quick fix. I looked underneath the truck and the oil sender unit was tucked way up there in a precarious location. Weather was crappy and snowing. I did not have any place to do work on my vehicle that was out of the elements. As a result, called around and took it to a mom&pop shop and had them look. We all felt it was probably a bad oil pressure sender unit. They removed the sender unit, checked the oil pressure and found it was OK (or so they claimed), and put in a new sender unit. Problem fixed. Engine sounds good.
Going forward, I will probably put in an oil pressure guage as per your recommedations. Waiting for better weather though.
