Have fun on the trip! Yes these are great road trip vehicles. Wife and I took ours to the Texas coast last week and it was much more comfortable then her Highlander. Driving the speed limit I got close to 22 mpg in our FX4 with 3.73 gearing

My husband's mom has a highlander. I agree, expedition for the win! We have the HD tow package, so the same gearing.

We're in the middle of a 2,200 mile round trip from Dallas to Kentucky in our 22 Expy Limited also purchased in April. Fuel economy has been great, averaging 21.9 MPG since departure a week ago, which is phenominal compared to my 2013 Expy that averaged about 16 MPG. This trip has been a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the adaptive cruise control and speed limit recognition. Only issue I have is finding a car wash anywhere near where we're at :) Overall really happy with the purchase.
It's such a great road tripper! We are closing in on the end of our first day and it has been a peaceful trip this far, the kids are comfortable. My husband is really liking the adaptive cruise control. It's my daily driver, but he hasn't driven it much. Except home from the dealership.

Maxine, our 2019 Max Platinum is ready for her first road trip since we got her in April. New tires, a bath and an oil change. She's so fancy!
Our family of 5 is traveling 1,000 miles one way for my 20th high school class reunion. We have made this trip in an extended cab F150 and a Taurus x. Maxine feels like the grand canyon in comparison. Hometown, here we come!
Stay safe. If I may ask what are yall budgeting for gas for the full trip?

They are good long road trip vehicles and it has the best interior versus the suburban, yukon xl.

My only complaint is that I have yet to fix the whistling noise from the drivers side mirror that annoys me.

Gas mileage is also not that great unless you run premium, but than again like I tell people. "I didn't buy this because it was going to get good gas mileage, I bought it for the comfort and utility.

Have a safe trip!

Have fun! I've taken cross country road trips in four different Expeditions (one of those was across a different country, though), and looking to add a fifth trip and third country sometime soon! They are all excellent for the task. Enjoy!

Best long distance vehicle I have ever drove.. Left Houston TX to Clearwater FL to Columbus OH to Horseheads NY back to Columbus OH. I was getting anywhere from 20.5 - 22.5mpg. I tried the eco mode to see if there would be a difference. I didnt notice one in mpg but did in throttle response so I just stayed in normal. Leaving Ohio tomorrow to head back to Houston will be running 93octane once this tank is empty.

I tried the eco mode on long distance highways and saw no difference and hated the slugishness.
I think eco works best around town to curb the acceleration.

We didn't budget. It is what it is. We had a pretty steady 18.6 miles to the gallon during the whole trip. That was in front wheel drive, and with normal drive mode. 2 adults, 3 kids and stuff. It typically, with today's gas prices costs me 100.00 for a full tank of gas.

We just finished a 5,000 miles road trip over two weeks. For those long trips, the vehicle WiFi hotspot is a must. It just slashes the whining by 80%, you are then only left with hunger and bathroom whines.
