Yeah at about 40K miles, the plug gaps in my 01 were worn to .080 inches, the thickness of a nickle. There is no way you can get 100K out of a set of plugs. At increased gap the high voltage increases and causes strain on the coil and the rubber plug seals. Arcing of those can easily occur causing electrical noise and misfire.
