Thanks for posting those links, IDK why I didn't think about the F150? Well, after watching them I know I would be in over my head even if I weren't disabled. IDK what to do the trucks a great ride and its paid for and I don't need another car payment. I do have most of the tools but I don't...
I searched the forum and did not find anything useful in the archives. Today while out doing errands I noticed the pungent aroma of anti-freeze coming out of my A/C vents so it looks like I need a heater core replacement. Has anyone on here actually done their own? I called the local Ford...
I don't know if its normal our not but mine does it also when I make a sharp turn like turning into my driveway. I just put new tires on mine and I just chalked it up to the tires. I see no issues with the front axles or boots. Mine is not bad so until or unless it gets worse Im not going to...
All I am saying about flushing out a transmission instead of draining the pan and changing the filter is you run the risk of spreading metal shavings or clutch fibers throughout the most critical orifices of the transmission. Some people have good luck and nothing happens. I am not certain about...
This is why I call them stealerships. You will be much better off doing this yourself. Get yourself a Haynes or Chilton manual for you Expedition at a auto parts store and just save your receipts for your oil/filters and just note on them what the mileage was when you performed your service...
I am not calling you an idiot. Yes, it is true that you do not get out more than 5-6 quarts of transmission fluid because you can't get out whats in the torque converter. But you are also not circulating whatever may be in the oil pan throughout the entire transmission either. Most transmission...
What good does it do to flush a transmission and leave the old filter in? It does nothing but spread metal shavings around and clutch fibrers around the inside of the transmission. Any decent mechanic or garage would never recommend this. Only a place that is either lazy or in the business of...
The worst thing you can do is have an automatic transmission flushed. When you do that it circulates everything that has collected on the bottom of the transmission pan through the transmission and all it takes is a few metal shavings or clutch fibrers getting into a critical orifice and boom...
Today, I finally got my Expeditions rear brakes replaced. Pads, rotors and calipers and 1 of the fron swaybar links that was broken. While they had it in the air they had me come out and look at my rear trailing arms and swaybar. I am going to have to have both trailing arms and all the swaybar...
Mine leaks also. I too have duct taped mine. I don't really care if it opens or not but the water leaks down on the dash and gets the GEM module wet and runs down the battery. No leaks since I duct taped it but soon will need to re tape as the tape is starting to turn loose. Owning an...
The sad part is I have all the tools and I used to do my own brakes. Probably a 2 hour job at worst with all new parts. I hope I don't ever need a transmission.
Getting ready to have replaced (2) rotors and calipers and brake lines on the back. Truck has 164 k miles and unfortunately due to finances being bad couldn't get to them in time. This vehicle was formerly a Undercover drug squad vehicle owned by a Sherrifs Dept and who knows how hard they...
Mine does this all the time, I think its normal. Mine has climate control that keeps a constant temperature, i.e. where ever you set it at mine has a digital display. When it gets satisfied it reduces the blower speed and output.
I bought 2 of the 4 new tires I needed. Tires have definitely gone up since the last time I bought tires. Going in shop in a couple weeks for new back brakes.
Well, I am glad to hear your staying. I left Raleigh, NC for the laidback pace of life and I love it here. I am retired and the cost of living is much cheaper here. The scenic beauty is a plus.
I will be 51 next month. I have lived in TN for almost 2 years. Before that I lived in NC for almost 12 years and before that I lived most of my life in Texas. My dogs are an obnoxious Jack Russell terrorist who is almost 12 yrs old, and 2 Beagle/Terrier strays who adopted me about 4 months ago...
Well, I have been to Florida and there are some very nice beaches and weather but too many people for my liking. I am more of of a loner. What makes me happy is setting out on the porch enjoying the scenic natural beauty that I live in the midst of. Spending time with my 3 dogs and making them...
