Good advice on lubricating the locks. I will try that. I have a 2000 EB with 330K miles that I've had since new. I never carry the fob and use the key pad about a third of the time. Usually I just use the key and hit the button on the inside if I need to open more doors. Three of the four door locks seem to work regularly. One door lock and the tailgate lock work when they want to. I either hit the unlock button a couple more times to get those to work or just use my key in the tailgate. I agree that the dealer programmed in the dealer's zip code as one of the six programmable codes. The original codes are random. The dealer did that for the dealer's convenience while the truck was on the lot. They should have removed that code before they delivered the vehicle. I am also a regular at my local junkyard. One of the benefits of owning an older vehicle besides lower taxes and insurance is being able to pick up parts in a junkyard. My exact Expy was there for a while but I can usually find what I need from some of the other first gens in there. There is never anything in there for my wife's '11 XLT Plus, but she rarely needs anything. Junkyards where you do your own picking are wonderful places. Junkyards where they do the picking, not so much.
I think I'll be starting to become a regular at my scrapyard too--I find it great fun and a great learning experience. Ours is the kind where you go pick your part yourself which is nice. I love having an older vehicle--easier to fix and maintain.
