I get a bad vibration when making a slow turn from stop on my 03. It almost sounds like a scrubbing noise.

I only have 3000 miles on this vehicle.

When I took it in to the Ford dealership they told me this was normal.

Anyone else having this problem?

No way in heck would I think that it is normal.

vibration

this vibration while seeming to come from the front is actually coming from the rear. The limited slip clutch packs need to be replaced in the rear-end.

Doing it again

Well they replaced the rear end at 4000 miles. Now at 7000 miles it is doing it again.

That's wierd- it almost sounds like they left the friction modifier out of the oil. Before you let them replace the rear end again, ask if the oil has the FM in it.

Hot-rod fluid like Redline or Royal Purple have friction modifier built in.

This time they are going to loosen the clutch packs as they say they are too tight.

They are replacing the fluid with a new synthetic fluid.

They knew about the friction modifier but are not going to add it right now. maybe the new fluid will do the same thing.

They are also replacing my front brakes also due to the problem everyone has with them with the dust.

So far my opinion of the 03 Expedition.... Poorly designed, slapped together, junk. I cant count the design flaws as there are so many.

I don't know if this is the same thing, but today driving in a snow covered parking lot in 4x4......it felt really weird. Almost like the vehicle was hopping? Kinda hard to explain in writing. But it was a throbbing/hopping type feel....but only when turning. Not sure if it was because of the snow....but could this too be the limited slip thing? I don't recall any noise at all.

Well got the Expedition back today after they loosened the rear end and added new synthetic fluid.

Well needless to say the problem now seems to be five times as bad. Now its even making the grinding noise in reverse gear.
It's so dang irritating that I cant stand it. $35000 on a new vehicle and all I have had is problems.

They keep telling me this is normal and after a while it will stop.
I just cant see that this is normal. Anyone else out there having this problem please email me at [email protected] and let me know, or if someone knows the best way to contact someone higher up at Ford Motor.

They did replace my brake pads today free of charge. After getting black wheels two days after its washed due to the dust they changed to pads that have more ceramic or asbestos in it. I sure hope that helps.

And to top it off my automatic security door lock no longer works!
Yet another problem they are going to have to fix. Sheesh.

So the new pads are out?

Got part numbers on your paperwork for us?

And uh...sorry to hear of your frustrations.

I've not had any problems with my LS in the axle. I almost feel left out! Mine works as advertised..which for Ford means: barely. They should really talk to the guys over at GM on how to equip a stock truck with a locker.

Im about to have the 4th rear end put in mine, i used to work at a dealership and ive personally put 2 in it, now im going to have them order another. That will be #4 including the one that came in it, and im just at 7000 miles. It always starts with the grunting when taking off turning, and then soon comes the unbearable tip in whine at 50mph.
