I picked up an 03 4.6 2v motor from a Salvage yard (they had it for sale as an 03 f150 4.6). After a few trials and tribulations with a few accessories, I ended up researching to figured out this salvage yard motor was actually from an 03 expedition. Apparently Ford kept the 4.6 2v in the new chassis until they made the change to 5.4 3v as the only option in 05. Looking up the specs on this motor shows it to be an all new designed aluminum block with a new PS Pump placement. The PS Pump will only line up 2 of the bolts of the original gen1 Pump location. The new pump placement location interferes with the steering shaft on my gen 1 Expy. Has anyone dealt with this situation? I believe I'm going to have to change to the original timing cover that used 3 bolt holes in the original location of the gen1. I just want to confirm before I get in the engine bay and get after it. I wish I knew this before I got this far in the installation. Everything is near done besides a few accessories and the intake. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
