I have a 98 expy. The driver side window won't roll down with the door closed but if I open my door it works. Anyone have an idea about this one.

check the wires that run through the door and into the cab... might have a worn cable that is either grounding out or not a good connection

Does the switch just do nothing? Or does the window struggle, but not work?

If the first, worn wire would be my guess too. If it seems like it wants to work, but doesn't, maybe something is bent.

when the door is closed and you push the window up or down button you can hear a clicking sound like it is trying to do something but the window never moves. My first thought was a wire as well. I have yet to take the cover off and look at the wires. I am now battling a dome light issue. My dome light and door adjar light is on when the door is closed. so now i have to try the lubrication trick to see if that works. I will let you know about the wire as soon as i get to it. Thanks for the help guys.

If you hear clicking it could be the motor trying to lift the regulator and the gears are stripped. I had the same thing happen to my drivers window.
