Hi, my 98 Expedition (4x4 if it matters) had the refrigerant for the AC leak out, so I took it in to the shop, and they said the leak is in the line going from the front to the back, which is no longer available. They had a local hydraulic hose shop make a new line, but it leaked out in a week, so now they are saying the only option is to cap off the rear AC, and just run with the front AC, which they say will work fine with the rear capped off. Since this is a family hauler, I don't think that will work very well in the hot summer months.
So I am wondering is there a different line that can fit, or be made to fit from a different year? Is there a reason why the custom line wouldn't work? That's a little confusing to me, it was over $100 to have that made up and then they're saying it just didn't work, but it's not the line's fault.
I apologize I know nothing about AC, but I hate to just give up, or also to keep throwing money into it with no plan or knowledge. I appreciate any info that anyone can give me.
thanks,
