2002 Smoking

Have a 2002 Expedition. There is smoke coming from the rear like fluid is burning off. Does it for a certain time then stops. Just had Pinion Seal,Replaced right Axle seal,greased. Thought doing this would stop the smoke,but didn't. He didn't say anything was leaking and can't see any fluid leaks. Not coming from motor. Any thoughts on this? Thanks

Climb underneath or put it on a lift then look for the source.

Have a buddy rev the truck while you observe from the rear at a distance. Look at the tailpipe if it emits smoke. Dark gray -too much fuel, whitish like steam -leaking manifold gasket, bluish -engine is eating oil, bluish with acrid odor -brake fluid leak (worn brake master cylinder).

Thanks everyone. It had a fluid leak. Took to shop to get fixed. Well I spent 424.00 this time and 293.00 two weeks before on another problem. This better be it for a long time or it will be up for sale!! It only has 163,000 miles on it. I sure do like it better after the gas came down. A very big thanks for all the help.
